Could have been someone looking to cause an accident to make an insurance claim or just an idiot.
It occured to me too that this could have been a failed attempt at a 'staged accident'0 -

As other posters have said, if the other driver didn't stop either, there would have been no reason for you to stop. Also, if you had stopped on the dual carriageway, you could potentially have caused another incident. I wouldn't worry unduly. You have done the right thing and reported the incident of your own accord.
BTW
My town has just been awarded the dubious honour as the top town for crash for cash incidents. Basically, car deliberattely cuasing accidents by slamming on in front of you for no reason. You don't happen to live in West Yorkshire do you?

Might be but as I understand it, many years in insurance, if you go into the back of someone its your fault, unless concrete evidence of idiot I would not worry to much in that the police have not received a complaint from the other party. They can be charged for not reporting too
Best of luck and hope you feel better soon.Sealed pot challenge 5430 -
NnnnnnnnnnListen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

The cynic could suggest you only reported it later as you saw how damaged your car was and wanted to defraud the insurance and blame another party0

Yes, it's true, some people can only see the worst in people.
Luckily others can sympathise and empathise with the shock and even help.0 -
can't produce it.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

A bit late now but you should have stated that this person was behaving in a threatening manner. The other driver deliberately caused the accident and you did not stop because you feared for your safety. You reported it as soon as you felt there was no longer a threat. They can't prosecute you for that.
Beyond that, I'll have a sly bet that the other party has no insurance and probably no license.0 -
I,ve sent my drivers licence off and now can't produce it.
You really should take copies, preferably certified ones.
I don't know if you have a motorcycle entitlement, but some of these have gone missing and the DVLA force the person to retake the test even if they are a long standing police rider.
In some cases people have lost income because of mistakes by the DVLA.
Even if you don't have that entitlement, I'd advise everyone to do it as the DVLA have been clearly shown to be incomptetent.0
