spent a ridiculous amount yesterday on a bbq  which has completely thrown my budget.
spent £30 on alcohol alone, just wondering whether not to include the alcohol in the budget
we have plenty of food left so we will have to live on that for the next 2 weeks.
it was so worth it though, we had a brilliant time0 -
good morning....Mrs M i hope it works out well for your mum...its such a worry when nearest and dearest are effected like that...fingers crossed
iv never fancied meat from the market wagon as i call it....mainly because i dont know where its come from...has it been frozen but having said that i was stood waiting for dh when he was buying some plants off our market and had a look at the meat wagon and it looked very clean and certainly cheap...um not sure if id fancy it
we are off to the carnival later...the kids love the fair and the procession....might get some lunch out as well so not very money saving but fun
not done a meal plan for next week yet...need to get on with that..its hard when it goes hot....i plan stew and then fancy salad
take care

Morning everyone
not been around much but totally trying to stay in control. DH took MIL shopping on Friday and she spent £35. Would you believe that? Mind you, she bought bleach, soap powder, washing up liquid, the lot. It's like she's not been shopping for weeks and weeks.
Anyway, I've a horrible cold and decided we should go out to eat on Friday. Didn't do it. Instead went to M&S on way home from work and spent £24.62. This got us lovely, lovely ribs for 4, bean salad, giant cous cous, potato salad with coleslaw, bread, salad crisps and dip, all butter fudge and chocolate mousse for afters. Made a lovely dinner. Also got a reduced belly pork for £2, sausages for yesterday's and today's brekkie (rolls too) so don't feel too bad.
Yesterday saw £9.46 in Aldi and £42 in Tesco. Not quite sure what I've got for dinners but I should cope.
So, a total of £77 spent this weekend then.
I've kept up well with the thread I think, but have I missed Karen sharing the recipe for the cupcakes?Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -
Morning peeps,
just popped in to update my siggy, not doing too bad so far this month so fingers crossed
MrM is saving me a bit as i have some of the £5 vouchers, i didn`t manage to collect them all so i shall use the last one next week. I did have to nip to MrA for a few bits and bobs but hopefully i can manage.
After buying catfood i did find a 12 pack hidden away upstairs where i stash my extras so i won`t need any next week which should help. Once i`ve done MrM`s £30 spend next week we shall have a bit of a lean week the last week of the month as i shall need a sack of dog food but i`m hopeful that i`m still ok with my budget.
Mrs M - fingers crossed for your mum.
Searching_me - congratulations :j

Hi everyone
trying really hard with challenge this month. Still sometimes get it wrong 'though. Yesterday had to eat THREE small trifles before they went off. Bought BOGOF bargain and no one ate them all up in time so I was forced to do the decent thing and put them out of their misery. Couldn't bear to throw them out.
Will be more disciplined for the rest of the month and if others want a treat they can buy it themselves. It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -

Lots of you seem to be using the vouchers for Mr M, I'm quite jealous, we don't have a Mr M anywhere near us.:sad::sad:***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
I'm just planning meals for the week. We were going to have roast chicken today but since we went to a carvery last night I don't think another roast will go down too well with hubby. So here we go:
Monday - SpagBol
Tuesday - Peppered Mackerel, New Pots & Salad
Wednesday - Ham Salad
Thursday - Roast Chicken
Friday - Hot Dogs
Saturday - Burger & Chips
Sunday - Pigs 'n' Blankets
Weve been growing strawberries and some of them are almost ready to pick, I can't wait.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -

TBH i`m struggling to spend £30 to use the voucher some weeks
I find that i`m stocking up on things for weeks ahead, before i started the GC i would easily have spent £80 in there on junk but now i shop at MrA a lot and also at local shops so i pick up a lot more bargains.
Did you manage to post the cupcake recipe at all?

ETA: Like Sunnyday, I'm also struggling to make the £30 minimum spend...... of the 4 weeks I've used one of these so far, at least half the bill has been DDs groceries for the first 3 weeks (me doing her shopping saves her a delivery fee or taxi fare, so I get to knock all the voucher off my shopping), and last week saw me stocking up on long-life goodies (including 32 toilet rolls, which means I may now have enough in the house until the end of the year!!)Cheryl0 -
Nothing to say GC wise really other than - MrsM I hope your mum is ok. You are right in what you say, money in the bank is fine but health and happiness is more important. Thats why I stopped being so GC strict on myself- I still watch the pennies and try to save but my focus is on the bigger picture now.
Anyway, hugs to you :grouphug:
