I'm 30, self employed doing various legal and accounting projects. Don't really know how much I earn, but it is enough to pay the bills and ensure I get my staple five holidays a year.
    Gone ... or have I?

Self employed freelance IT Technician (started 8 weeks ago), I get my hands dirty 20 hours a week spend 1 hour a week cleaning my car and 9 hours a week looking at pron .... erm ..... sorry .... researching new products and potential customers.

I make about £400 per month, and have very few overheads ..... less than £70 per month, no one looks over my shoulder and I am accountable to no one. I take fridays off, dont work weekends, and do my accounts friday morning whilst sitting in my underpants drinking coffee and eating bacon sandwiches wondering if I could get an extra day off next week.

Previously I have worked for other people who wanted 12 hour days, took all the credit for jobs 'well done' and then whined when they had to pay me sick pay for a week. Never again !!

Got any tips on picking up clients? I'd like to take up technician/repair work as a sideline, but the major issue for me would be finding clients and work.

I was a full time local radio journalist on 16K for a 6 day week. No benefits other than the basics of sick pay and holiday. Made redundant earlier this year.

Now I'm a freelance journo, shift rates vary from place to place, freelance voiceover artists, again rates vary GREATLY and neither work is guaranteed. I'm looking for full time work again

If he's working 20hrs a week for £400 a month, I don't think you want any tips for earning £5/hr... Hopefully it was a typo and he means £400 a week!
