I suspect I posted here before but my circumstances have changed.
    Nearly 25
    Job role senior care assistant
    £7.26 an hour

What other people here have listed makes me wonder, what on earth are you spending money on?! I am coping on my measly earnings so people on double/triple my pay but in same situation (no children) saying they are struggling need to look at their spending! No offense intended I just can't understand how you can be say "you desperately need more money etc"

I'm a [junior] care assistant, have been for about 2 1/2/ years.
I get 1p over National Minimum Wage: £6.31p/h *teardrop*

*fingers crossed* I'll be having a job interview in a completely different field next week for a (slightly) higher hourly wage and (hopefully) a less stressful job environment!

    New Business Executive

    £20k basic
£10 for every demonstration booked and sat (Target is 15 per week with an 85% sit rate. Take home on average £500+ per month in bonus before tax)

    No sick pay (except statutory)
Free company trips out (lots of these and all paid for)
Free tea & coffee (very important)
20 days holiday (minus 5 for Christmas)
10 minutes from home + free bus

    I'm quite happy :)

I think I could imagine what a demonstration is but what is a "sit" ?

Gone are these days- now it's performance related pay for teachers! Or any excuse to keep you on £21k forever. thanks Michael Gove.

Sorry, I maybe didn't make it clear.. I'm in Scotland so we don't have Performance Related Pay, we are all on a scale.

And I've just realised I've probably made myself seem older than I am - I'm 28 years old, not 28 years ago! :rotfl:

I'm 32 and have my own contract ground maintenance business, working largely on my own. I've been running the business for 4 years and it's gone very well.

Benefits are having the ability to choose my own hours, contract payments mean i don't need to work much from dec-feb, I don't need to answer to anyone (other than 40 clients!) and am in total control of my life. Mortgage should be paid off next year and living a quiet life/low expenses means I am considering going down to 5-6 days a fortnight and starting to live a bit more selfishly again. i generally work 8-4 over 5 days a week and make more than I used to as a graduate engineering consultant.

Downsides - machinery breakdowns and weather!

I think it might be 40 or 40.5 come to think of it, should probably check.

    30 normal + 8 bank + 2 or 2.5 privilege days.

My jaw dropped when I was told, previous role was 31 days, so big jump. Although I don't think that figure is outrageous for more senior roles, both public and private sector.

    .

At 23 you seem to be fortunate having a public sector job which provides 30 days annual leave plus BH/PH. Most staff need to work for at least 5 years to get that.

Job: Company Director (yes it sounds much more grandiose than it actually is).
Salary: Pay myself £1,000 per month, though I *may* actually get a bonus this year.
Benefits: I work an average of 15 hours per week mainly whenever it suits me, the business pays for my trips out to clients (petrol, parking, lunch out, that type of thing). Gives me time to pursue hobbies (that are also beginning to make me money) and be a decent father to my son.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Job: Cabin crew for a major airline
Salary: Roughly 21,000pa including basic pay, hourly and a quarterly bonus.
Perks: Small pension, incredible travel concessions, amazing view from the office window. 30 days holiday per year. Chatting to celebs in the galley when they can't sleep. 4/5* hotels downroute, free passport/ visa renewals and innoculations, sometimes you can blag a free drink or two from the pilots. Food onboard. Getting to practice my second language in its home country. The weirdest training you can imagine and plenty of opportunity for progression.
Cons: Jetlag. Christmas away from home. Having to wear a ridiculous hat.
