    30 - Data Administrator/IT Support/General Dogsbody - £16,300.

IMO nowhere near enough for what I do for them esp having worked for them for 12 years - partner doing same job for a different organisation which provides same services is on about £23k having been there for about a year, I don't begrudge some of that because he does have skills which I don't, but it's still a huge difference and I got turned down when I asked for a raise.

Have been keeping an eye out for other work, but it's scary considering something new after so many years of security and knowing my job inside out!

hi I am 26 and work for a small Sports Club and Playing Fields on £5.93 hr. Unfortunatly as I am on the committee that volunteer to run it and everyone else works full time I also end up doing most of the donkey work for nothing, so I work on the bar about 16 hours a week (varies from 5 hours to 25 hours - over xmas I was getting paid about £35 a week as it was so quiet) but in reality the amount of work I do is about 25-30 hours a week. It used to only need a couple of hours volunteering a week but its a choice between me doing the extra work or our village losing its facilities as no one else wants to do it (wonder why?)
Am now currently applying like crazy for a job just to get out of this situation as they are really taking the mick now. Would love to be a Nursery Nurse! That's my dream job.

Oh and there's absolutely no benefits what so ever with my current job. Can't you tell I really hate it these days.
Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.

Interesting thread, a tremendous variation in wages.

Self employed gardener, 49, approx £9600pa, but varies wildly depending on weather and if rich old customers die (always lose a few in the cold weather).

Benefits: Free-ish car, lots of free fruit and vegetables at certain times of year. Very varied and often interesting, get asked to do some odd things. Get given various items, for example my computer was a freebie, as was my fish tank and stand, video..... In fact the only thing I have bought recently is my PVR.

Disadvantages: get mucky a lot, some customers are a pain, messes the inside of the car up, got attacked by customers dog last year, eighteen stitches in my thigh.

I enjoy my job, it's not very well paid, but I never spend much money anyway, so earning a lot is a bit of a waste. It's the best job in the world, when the sun is out and all the flowers are in full bloom.

Engineer, £31,000 p.a for a 37 hour week. Quite a few student debts reduce this by about £300 per month, but I'm happy with this.

No perks, no benefits, no sick pay, no holidays.
