Work as assistant accountant for a uni. £34k, final salary pension scheme + 33 days holiday

An assistant accountant making 34k + final salary? That's very good, well done :)

Most newly qualifieds don't make that!

Mortgage broker (commerical and residential mortgages), self employed equivolent to a salaried employed person earning about £140,000 pa but time the Accountant has legally rinsed my acounts, Taxable earnings show up as about £50,000. That's an example of why national earnings statistics show as a lot lower than real earnings. In my job most self employed clients I meet earn far far more than the amount declared to the Taxman, by legal means of course.

Incidentally when you see firemen rattling collection buckets, keep in mind those that I meet run second self employed jobs such as window cleaning rounds on thier 3 or 4 days off each week meaning thier true take home earnings are about £4 - 6000 per month in the London area, but of course far far less shows up once the accountant has worked her magic. Thier partners often earn about £20 - £30k as teachers / nurses 9with added overtime or agency work included). Several dozen I know live in £600k houses in Hertfordshire - as I say dont be taken in by the bucket rattling.

  • Key Stage 1 is not Reception. Reception is Foundation Stage.

Key Stage 1 is Year 1 or Year 2 (I personally teach Year 2).....and yes LA is Local Authority.

Don't you just love it when "professions" get tied up in their own jargon?

Just how old is a "Key stage 1" child?

As school budgets are based on "bums on seats" amongst other things these days, and so have nursery sections, it might help if you could create a table of age versus professional description.
