Pre 2009 Norton was pretty foul. The 2009 version is much better (I'm running it now) although there's talk of it not picking up as many threats as others. For my new PC, should I ever receive it, I've bought Kaspersky, which is acknowledged to be one of the best although, like Norton, it used to be dire. Cost 8 quid from Amazon.

Why do so many people slate Norton Internet Security 2009. I've had NIS for years, from 2006 version til now, and while all the rest of them were slow, the 2009 version is really speedy! Other features include:

Updates every 5 minutes, so you're always protected
Doesn't scan files that haven't changed (unless you want it to)
Scans e-mails
Saves passwords securely
Excellent firewall

And I've used Avira, AVG, McAfee, Bit defender and NIS is much better than them all! (IMO that is!)

I did in the end buy the Norton Key from ebay and its been working fine.

I aslo got in touch with Norton and they said my Key was legit and not a fake so I think for £12.88 its good.

Yes I use it and have done for the past 4 years. And I can honestly say that from 2006 to 2008, it got slightly better, and then from 2008 to 2009, it got infinitely better. It's now so much quicker and has got much better features. Better protection too.
