Go for what makes you happy, everything else will fall into place, the secret is deciding what does make you happy and making a positive choice to pursue happiness. If you choose to be happy first, you will be stronger, guilt free and positive, debt, money worries, mortgages and material goods become much easier to deal with when put into context.
That has ALWAYS been my philosophy too, i am just feeling a bit worried about how to do what makes me happy - i.e. leave my job to spend time with the kids....seeing as whilst money definately isnt the key to happiness, we sometimes need it to buy the odd pint of milk or loaf of bread and recently we have been struggling with that at times! I think I need to look at WHY that is happening as it shouldn't be
Are there people that will sit down with you and look at your finances without trying to recommend a product to you??
Thanks! xOfficial DFW Nerd 2100 -
Yes there is, Citizens Advise are great and are free particularly if you are worried about debt, look at some of the debt free threads for good advise on this website, make a money diary and record every penny you spend for a month, them sit down and see what expenses can be cut out and reduced, you can also get an independant financial advisor to help you but the independant ones want paid. Start working out what things are free to do witht he kids. Good luck.0

Rachie, apols if this has already been posted. There is a downloadable spreadsheet on the home page, can't remember what it's called but it's in the list on the right hand side.
A spending diary can be really helpful because you can go through it periodically and highlight the spends that weren't strictly necessary which identifies where money might be leaking to. Good luck.0 -
Here is the Budget planner, it's in the red bit on every page, you would be really welcome on Debt Free Wanna be and there are lots of ideas for cutting costs both on there and on the Old style boards,0
