I wouldn't create quite so many folders; I'd also let both nLite and Double Driver install to their default locations. That's... about it.
I know there are lots of folders, but the point was to keep everything in one "main" place, but in separate folders so that they don't trip over each other.

For a bet most people won't do this more often than once a year - and to save having to remember what does what, and where the flying fynn they put all the things they needed...

I tend to remove it all once I've finished creating the disc image. Keeps my disk all neat and tidy, my Start Menu nice and small.

If it's not there, I don't have to worry about where it is, do I? :D

    LOL.

Well you can stash the folders some place else if you like, or even pop them onto a CD and put that away in a drawer... :)

I keep Service Pack 3 and the completed disc image on a USB stick along with any other useful stuff I've downloaded. Things like nLite are updated every so often, so it's not worth my while to keep a copy of it. Last but not least, I have a couple of original Windows XP installation discs in a drawer.

No need to back up something that can be recreated in a jiffy. Assuming a jiffy is equal to an hour or two, that is.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier! What about making it a sticky? What do you have to do to make it one?

It took me a few days to work out what I could have found out here in minutes!!

Wa-a-ay too late for stickiness, though it might become more relevant whenever SP4 comes out. Even then, after an update, it will at best be a handy link somewhere. It's one of those things that not many people need - but when they do... they REALLY need it.

    :)

That's highly unlikely. Unless Windows 7 turns out to be just as much of a turkey as Windows Vista, I think we've seen the last of the Service Packs for Windows XP.

Guides such as this however will probably be needed for some time to come, at least until a fully working version of ReactOS turns up.

A shame really because there is some good information here. I don't REALLY need it but after five years I think an OS needs a reinstall......some people reinstall every year!

I started another thread about reinstall yesterday, before somebody pointed me to this one. Suppose it needs a few more threads to be started before it's made a sticky!

Well, thanks for the the thanks and all that, but honest guv, added to the handy links is probably the best you'll see. Best idea really, too.
Board guides are asked to try to limit the number of stickies they have, (to five if at all possible), and more pressing problems which come up daily on all platforms and devices, such as malware and security, very much come first in the queue, and rightly so.
