I'm glad you got a good result Caroline. Once the CSA told me that I would be getting a payment, it didn't take that long for it to be paid into my account. If I remember correctly, I only had to wait about 2 weeks.
  • Hi Caroline, thanks for posting your good news! Will the CSA be assessing the NRP from April 09 and moving forward? If so, are there arrears from that time and will be finally start receiving anything each month from the NRP?

I can't believe the CSA messed up so badly for you! £3000 in 7 years isn't a great deal, but at least you stuck it out, and you give me the courage to keep on with my own circumstances.

I was just last night saying to my grown up daughter that I was starting to question if it was worth all the hassle and stress, she said the same as you 'don't give up'.
  • *I'm assuming it was April 09 when you wrote to the CSA?

  • I've had several calls today from my CSA worker assigned to my ex-husbands debt and my particular case and to finish on a positive note, my CSA guy today was very positive about the work that the CSA are doing now, and told me that over £1 Billion in debt arrears had been collected this year alone. Wasn't sure I heard correct, so looked this up:

    How the CSA is Changing

Although it won’t have any effect on penalties, the CSA was taken over by the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission in November 2008. It’s worth noting that the collection of child support is becoming more effective. The CSA collected £1.1 billion in the year ending September 2008, benefiting over 750,000 children

    Kat :)

That means they collect a billion not a billion of arrears.
Now I can't see how many case but I'm told 750,000 Kids

If we assume an average of 2 children per case then to get £1 billion back form 375,000 parents that would be £2,666 per absent parent in arrears. But of course not all cases are in arrears

It's the usual bull from the CSA feed the public a pack of lies and they'll believe it
 I've paid the CSA off and stopped them taking payments:beer:
I'm stillowed some arrears by my ex

I was a NRP, now I'm a PWC, partner of a PWC, and parent of a PWC ( and very confused at times )

Ive been in a similar position as some here, the CSA admitted fault after I involved my MP, my case had been "technically stuck" for months on end, the MP got it made clerical, which meant they could reassess everything and sort it out, I was given a £75 compo payment, and promised 12mths of arrears to be paid by them, once my ex started paying. (which he now is)
This morning my case worker rang to say they will start the ball rolling on my missed 12mths, plus interest. Ive personally calculated it at about £1500 minus interest, so heres hoping it all goes ahead, its been a long time coming, and a lot of phonecalls, letters etc, but theres now light at the end of the tunnel!
  • hi there i am glad i can give you hope but the key is phone every day and they soon get fed up thats my motto anyway my x packed his job in when he had been assees to pay maintanance so he now has been assessed on sighning on which means he pays jsut a few pounds and a pound for arrears ha ha ha
the money i am getting isnt coming from him its an apology they messed up he now owes nothing but 666 from when my clerical got the case...
i am glad though BOUT THE MONEY its a real godsend and arrived at a good time aswell xxxcan really make it up to the kids now..

    Hi all
Just been reading the posts on here and seen some positive outcomes well done,i am just in the process of waiting to hear from the csa in regards to an advanced payment claim. My case goes back to 1993 and went through all the steps for making complaints and ICE did an investigation which took nearly a year what they found astonished me as it turned out the csa had put my case into storage within weeks of first making a claim with them and never told me about it and it took them 10 years to make an initial assessment of my x so the arrears are over 26k. ICE recomended an advanced payment back in 2005 but it was refused i also went to my local MP and the Ombudsman who said it was not reasonable for them to get involved as a proper payment patern had not been established but as soon as it was then an advanced payment should me made and that was 3 years ago. My x has been making regular payments now for over a year and not heard anything from the csa so i have just written to them.
I think i meet all the criteria for it now but i do know that it is their policy to avoid making payments of this kind as set down in the gov guidelines to minimise the costs.
Anyway my question is do any of you know what lenght of time is classed as a payment patern ?
he is unemployed and making the payments from his benefits via a court order would this go against me when being considered for an advanced payment.
I found over the years that the csa to be useless in setting up DOE's and other Liability orders failing to enforce them and things so it is important that people know that they should keep at them and if you are not happy with the speed of things then they should complain and continue to do so until action is taken.I even had a charging order placed on his house and guess what it failed when the house was sold they froze his bank account after he had emptied it and i had told them weeks before that he was due a large sum of money.
