I passed my motorbike test when i was 16.
So it's nearly 40 yrs since i last rode a bike, seems ridiculous that a could get a big bike tomorrow and take it out on the road, or would i legally need to have a refresher course ?

Its legal so long as your photo is up to date...

    you have no points

your health is good/ vision etc

and you have the relevant class's on the licence.

Also just bear in mind any bike would still mean BIG insurance costs, as you would still be considered high to medium risk...

    Your not BANNED.

    happy riding :-)

    Happy Riding !!!!
Don't be silly, a bike, it's ok on a day like this when the sun is shining, what do you do in the winter when it's freezing.

I'll keep my car, with a nice warm heater

To be honest i've thought about that. I don't think i'd go for one of the super bikes, although they look exciting and i have got the licence, i know i would'nt be safe.
I think if i ever got another bike it would be a little 125cc.
After i past my test at 16 i wanted a Daytona.
My Mum said 'you'll kill yourself'........and she would'nt sign the HP.
I ended up with a Reliant Robin, i think the Daytona was safer.

Why I ride it of course!! Of course, not when it's snowing, but you shouldn't be in your car in that weather either!

Does direct access still exist in the true sense of it?

I passed mine in March 2007, £125 CBT, whatever the theory test cost (£35 rings a bell), 5 1 hr lessons (£150) two tests (cant remember costs for that, foot down on U turn was my fail).

I wouldnt go the 125 route (buying 2 bikes within a year or 2? and all the associated costs)

What has a photo and having no points got to do with a valid M/C licence. ?

One test you can do on a 125cc (this means 33bhp restriction for 2 years)

the other you do it on a 500cc with greater than 39bhp i think... (no restriction EVER)

what test did you do? 125cc?
