  • It could be embaressing for you to forget pin numbers but thats the least of your worries. if you make pins easy or the same it makes it easier for a fraudster. make pins different, change them every six months or so. Definately dont use old house nos. or birth dates as a conman may already know these as he knows of you. PROTECT YOURSLF. If you have your card taken or money out of your account, the bank will try and blame you, espoecially with your pin. They will say you have been negligent with it and you will lose out. Its easier to blame you . I had two thousand taken from my account and i had to prove myself. Fraud is big business at present and noone is doing enough about it. Yes so you may look silly but never mind, at least you,ll be safer. DONT LEAVE CARDS WITH SHOP, PETROL, RETAIL STAFF, even if they need authorisation. GO WITH THEM, THEY MAY BE COPYING DETAILS OFF IT. LOOK AFTER YOURSELF.

Just do your year of birth backwards, very simple.
No one unless someone that is close to you should be able to know that.
My PIN is same for all my cards as I am careful when entering my PIN at the shops.

The conman gets to try 3 times before it locks - I don't think that anyone could work out from all the possible combinations of numbers it could be what you'd used

I'd avoid the year of birth backwards thing - most people have some id in their wallet containing their year of birth - e.g. their driving license - and just seeing the '1', '9' or the '9','1' could trip them into guessing on it.

I'd go with random digits from an old phone number or day/month combos of birth/death dates for obscure relations (grandparents/uncles/aunts) - has the benefit of helping you remember!

Ya know, what a joke of a thread. I cannot believe someone has started a thread asking about PIn numbers - my lord almighty! Next someone will ask what the best PIN to use is! LOL

Shocking the mentality of some users here.

If you find it difficult to remember PIN's you know what to do? make them all the same and memorise it!

You you know your mobile number? Your landline number? your work number? your kids date of birth? If so then you must remember a 4 digit code and if not then gee - that sucks!

Have to say I agree with never in doubt

Pick a number and memorise it.

I picked a random number for my PIN on my first bank card when I was 14 and every card ever since has had exactly the same PIN.

From feedback here, some have inadvertently drawn cash from an ATM with a credit card, when they'd meant to use their debit card.

So, even if you use the same PIN for all your credit cards, it might be an idea to have a separate PIN for your debit card to guard against this happening ;)

You know what though mate, i've never seen any bank that issue a debit and credit card that look the same and until they do, i'll never buy the notion that people mistook the cards - they may be numpties yea, but not mistakes.

Debit cards have debit on them whereas credit do not. Quite simple really....

Sorry, just don't believe what i'm reading - load of nonsense. If you're telling me that a half eductaed person cannot remember a 4 digit number then we all have issues - not just them
