High mileage car advice

Well to be honest these days cars can go a lot longer so higher miles is not much of a problem0

we are having the same dilema, auction friday! blackbushe... do we go for the sensible newer low mileage scenic/grand scenic or the ford s-max 56 with 96,000 on the clock?
Go for the " sensible " newer, lower mileage option, the high mileage one will be worn out if it is a Ford, the engine may well be OK on the high mileage one, but the rest of it will be getting tired.

I Have been offered a high mileage volvo v70 2.4 diesel on almost 240,000 miles!
it a good price but is it worth it? it has full volvo service history, 23 stamps, recent cambelt change, what do you think?! steer clear or go for it?Younger than I was expecting but at the end of the day you will pay your money and take a chance. I might be tempted.
Thanks, what can I realisticaly expect this to go up to? I know there will be wear and tear items, suspension, brake discs, exhausts etc
but what other major items are likely to fail if it were to go up to say 300,000 miles,0 -

240,000 miles wouldn't worry me. Mine's on 238,000 miles and is solid as a rock.0
