  • Is it worth 65K? It depends really. If you have spent several years working on it, sourcing and seasoning the wood, preparing and carving, designing and building then your costs have to be covered. Especially if this is your sole income. I know the chap that makes these awesome pieces and he is a true craftsman. I've also emailed him this link so maybe he will respond. He spends very little time online so I guess that's why he hasn't responded before.

What I would say is this, if you are prepared to buy a watch, car, book, house et al you are buying into what people so effectionately call a 'lifestyle'. Some would also say that you are buying into an investment. Cassian's work is both of these. Some years ago I spent a day shooting images for him. We visited several people who had bought his work and everyone I met was so pleased with their purchase; and indeed the tables and cupboards fitted in to their settings perfectly. (NB. I am not his PR officer) ;)

Spending a lot of money on a single item is not to everyone's liking, but for some it fills their homes and their lives with a piece of functional art.

And I am sure that he'll be really pleased that you've brought it back to everyone's attention after lying dormant for 2 years!!!
