URGENT: Brother in Coma

Please help me if you can. My brother is in a coma in Spain he has a 70% chance of survival but will have brain damage although we don't know to what extent. He had a car accident at the weekend. He is a Sole Trader and uses his phone as his main tool of communication. O2 won't give us a new SIM with his phone number assigned (his other was lost in the accident) although they did let me block the SIM. I have spoken to a solicitor and they said I could apply to be a Deputy but this take 8-12 weeks. In this time he won't have a business. Sorry this is brief but I typed it once and lost it all.

Can anyone offer help or advice as to what we can do?

    Hi shirlgirl2004

Sorry to hear your news, hope your brother will be ok.

Does he have a website? Could you get a new number and possibly update the website. Could you print some new business cards with a new number, put posters up, word of mouth with a new number?

Can you speak to a seniour manager at O2, or could the solicitor possibly call them or they call the solicitor?

Sorry I can't be of more help.

They wont do it because you're a third party and breaches data protection.

They will be able to send one to his home address but it still has to be the account holder who phones up to activate it.

He does have a website but the mobile number isn't on the website. Our primary concern in the short term is his current contacts. His main advertising is Yellow Pages so we can't change that.

The solicitor told us there was nothing they could do apart from the Duputy thing. I did speak to a manager at 02 (2nd line manager) and they were the ones that insisted there was nothing they could do. I've emailed their cusomer complaints dept with an email I found on the O2 complaints thread.

I suspect the letter would be in Spanish IF we could get one. The hospital aren't being very helpful at the moment. I may give it a try because I'm not sure what else I can do.

Well yes that's what they are telling me but that isn't very helpful when he's in a coma. Surely they should have procedures for such eventualities. I can't believe he's the first its happend to.
