The bloke who lives on the corner of my road parks his Mercedes Monster right on the corner.
I cannot see a solitary THING as I edge Oh so gently out with by doze against the windscreen trying to see if there is anything coming from the right.
Maybe we all need to be buying a new shape 7 Series - they have a camera mounted on the nose to help you see at a tricky junction!0 -

I nearly got hit by a car coming from the left as I was concentrating so much on the right!!
Would have been my fault of course, but I simply cannot afford to look the other way in case something appears from around the Merc (right = busy road, left = cul de sac).
He does park half on the pavement though (it is a 4x4 after all) which, although he feels proud he can mount the pavement with consumate ease, makes it even more difficult to see whats coming as I approach the junction.
So report it to the police as an obstruction. Being a 4x4 has nothing to do with your lack of visibility.0 -
Totally right. And when we've convinced enough morons in government to tax them off the road with dumb assed comments like that, then what will we target next?
You realise that this is pretty much what the government is doing, right. They started it with speed limiters on lorries, then there was the "gas guzzler" tax that also affected old Mondeos.
There was another country that used this technique to get rid of undesirables. Some guy wrote a poem about it, I think the opening line was "First they came for the communists"Pew_Pew_Pew_Lasers! wrote:So report it to the police as an obstruction. Quite correct. It's illegal to park within 15 yards of a junction. The fact that it's a large vehicle does make it harder to see but even if it were a car it's still a crime, and as it's causing an obstruction and a dangerous situation it's a police matter not a council or traffic warden matter0 -
I'm from Somerset:o:D.
My Land Rover runs in 2 wheel drive unless told otherwise and, at 5' wide and 12' long, is one of the smallest vehicles on the road:beer:.
Only does 18 mpg though:o but it did spend 20 years defending the country so that the OP would be free to express their opinion.:rotfl:
I just spent 22 years defending my country and will have any opinion i care to choose.
Nice to see its still very easy to wind people up on here :rotfl:Has kept me amused at work!Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.0 -
It's a free country. People can drive what they want. There shouldn't be a special license for 4x4's.
It's nothing to do with the car. Some 4x4 drivers are no problem at all. It's not the car but the person sitting behind the wheel.
Without a driver controlling it (or not) as the case may be the car isn't going to do anything.
A Ford Fiesta can be lethal if there is a gormless idiot behind the wheel.
There should be a special licence for idiots and selfish dicks which bans them from driving any day of the week with a y in it.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
Most 4x4 / suv pay more in road tax and likely more fuel duty, so keeping your taxes down .Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Live on a farm, down a dirt track or really need it for off road work then fair enough but does a school run mum really need one if they live in suburbia?
4x4 drivers are the new Volvo 'look at me i'm invincible' idiots of the road imo
Its people like you that are seriously making me consider getting a Cayenne or a G class Merc as my next car.0 -

That's OK. I can return the favour when I tow my caravan through the towns of Somerset this summer!0 -
Yes, and if the caravan wasn't there then neither would the the trail of despondant drivers in vehicles crawling along at 30mph whilst they consider whether suicide might be less miserable. No they don't actually, that is " caused " by the impatience, intolerance of bad drivers that are following.
As has been said, they have speed restrictions imposed upon them, that is not of their making.Happy chappy0 -
Lets face it, if the much promised climate changes come 4x4's will be the only vehicle that could cope with our roads! after all the last time I listened to the greens they said that we would be baking under 100 degree heat, covered in 10 foot of snow, being battered by 90 mile an hour winds and all this while being under 250 feet of water!!!!:D so we will need the BIG snorkle on our landies!!! Then you will want a lift!! won't you!!!Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0
