I wonder if it's a question of who's put in for leave first,ie last Friday Supervisor was allowed leave first and then Assistant Manager asked, but August Assistant Manager was already allowed leave and the Supervisor wanted it as well?

Hr don't decide its the manager himself who says yes or no to holidays.
By the other supervisor and assitantmanger being off it left no supervisory staff other than general manger as although I am still being paid as a supervisor I can no longer do the job due to my pregnancy. I work in a busy entertainments bar and now have to work on the paying in desk.
At least the time I booked off still left a supervisor and a general manager.

You are no longer acting as a supervisor, I don't see how supervisor cover has any bearing on your holiday requests which should be based on the operational needs of the company.

It is "paying in desk" cover that is now relevent to your holiday requests.

with this much notice can't you adjust your shift patterns so these days are your normal days off and not need to take the holiday.

I think this is a disgrace actually, with the amount of notice given especially! No one should have to justify why they want the time off, each individual should be treated the same in my book and any sniff of personal favouritism is a sign of bad management. They can have their 'friends' but when it comes to the job they should beable to treat everyone the same. This could also cause a lot of tension between you and your work colleagues in the future.

Hi just to clarify a few things that have been pointed out.
The other supervisor booked the night off for a night out.
The company policy has always been that 2 members off staff can only have the same day off.
Noone other the manager has booked the same day off as the days I have booked off.
Both myself and said manager have had the same days off in the past with no problems.
Any member off staff can work the paying in desk as we all trained in all areas.
And as noone else has booked these days off so it shouldn't be a problem.
I can't change my shifts as I can only work the nights we are actually open.

I'm in the process off writing a grievance letter just not sure how to word it.

Are you sure this is not related to your facebook post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1731295 (both the fact you posted and the fact that the company is obviously in difficulty)

tbh its unfair but not a reason to raise a grievance and mess up any kind of work relationship you have over a day or two off work.. if you ar eprepared for the aftermath then go ahead...

I posted this thread before the facebook incident. Check the dates.
Company isn't in money problems they just closed down units not making money.

I can't see what could go against me after I have raised a grievance. They are not allowed to sack me for raising a grievance. And relationship between me and my managercan seriously not get any worse.
    As other posts have explained

    Just an update.
Grievance went in area manager agreed with manager that I couldn't have the holiday as it wasn't beneficial for the business as there's a lot going on that weekend. And managere has aparantly alreeady told me, which he hasn't. And noone else will be having it off either other than the manager that's booked it off.
I can appeal but don't see much point
