    On what grounds exactly.
    Thats very poor advice.

Do you think the automatic right to holidays is granted just because you filled out a form?
If that was the case, then why do you need to submit it?

What has this got to do with pregnancy??? Nothing at all!
The ONLY case where your pregnancy may have held sway is if you are due to go on Maternity Leave soon. If you are, then maybe the Manager decided that the supervisor should be first in the pecking order as you wont be there when he wants his time off.

I love reading the 'Help!!! Discrimination' threads as invariably they are of no substance........such as this one.

    Unequal treatment where?
If 2 people want the same annual leave days, then it is up to the manager to decide who gets it and not the people requesting it.

No, you haven't read it properly.
The manager didn't decide which one of 2 people requesting holiday on the same day gets it, but that in one case is reasonable to have 2 people off at once and in the other it isn't.

2 members off staff are allowed the same day off.
We have to fill in the holiday request forms otherwise how else would management know you want it off? I'm not saying I should automaticaly get the time off but when there is only one other person off on those days how should it be a problem? Me and the assistant. Manager have been off at the same time in the past! I would happily off accepted no if
    1. It hadn't been allowed in past but it has
    2. He hadn't have let supervisor and assitant manager have same day off freiday just gone!
    3. He had gave a valid reason why.
I'm not due for maternity leave untill november

    I'm not dense!

We can only go on the information given!

I agree that there has been unequal treatment, but this in itself is not discrimination.

You need to clarify why there are (according to the manager) different business needs at the time when you require time off.
    Gone ... or have I?

the only difference is that Friday just gone was part of a busy bankholiday weekend but august will be quieter. As its not a bankholiday weekend

Why not ask HR if they are aware of any other holidays when you want your Friday off, if it is only that person you know of, then ask in writing for the decision to be reviewed based on the grounds that you have been told no but that this situation arose last week and has there been a recent change in policy.

It is possible that policy has changed because of supervisor & assistant manager both wanting a Friday before a Bank Holiday weekend off on leave, thus leaving few supervisory staff on a busy day.....but it would be nice to be told that!

Hr don't decide its the manager himself who says yes or no to holidays.
By the other supervisor and assitantmanger being off it left no supervisory staff other than general manger as although I am still being paid as a supervisor I can no longer do the job due to my pregnancy. I work in a busy entertainments bar and now have to work on the paying in desk.
At least the time I booked off still left a supervisor and a general manager.

Is there anyone else to cover you while you are off on holiday? This might shed completely different light on the situation - if person working on the paying in desk for when you don't is already booked off on that day then that would be reason why.

Though again you should be told why and also there is plenty of time to find someone to cover for you, which the manager should try to do.

No one else is booked off other than assistant manager. The girl that usually works the paying indesk works it when I'm not there

    And she is not off?
Then do as you were advised before.

I have read it but there is still no discrimination there.

The boss decides who is off and when. Thats not a power trip, its called being the responsible person that runs the place.

Does the OP even know why the supervisor was off? YOu certainly don't Any, so how on earth you can raise the 'grievance' call is a mystery.
