could i get a dissaplinary for this?

The company I work for yesterday closed down 3 units close to the one I work in they wasn't warned head office just turned up and told them it wass shutting down.
I Put on my facebook status that I was worried and hoping our unit doesn't close next.
Well within 5 minutes my manager had rang me demanding to know what I had put, he's not on my friends list, due to 3 members of staff ringing up asking if we were closing down because they had read my status. He wasn't happy at all. He told me we wouldn't be closing down like the other units as the other units where losing the company money and ours isn't. He then text me demanding I delete my status before it causes rumours. Which I did.
Can I get a dissaplinary for that? Just worried as recently I feel he's looking for any excuse to get rid off me right now.

Looks like you may have given him the perfect excuse. There has been a number of cases where staff have been dismissed due to facebook comments.
Dont ever put anything work related on facebook that could trip you up in the future.0 -
Can't understand how being worried about my job could get me in trouble though.0

On the other hand, he may have done all he intends to.
Facebook is a minefield. Someone I know got into trouble at work for posting indiscretely on it. As the above poster says, keep facebook and work firmly apart.:idea:0 -

They could argue that you were spreading rumours/ gossiping about company business. This would be a breach of mutual trust and respect, and therefore potentially gross misconduct (though I would not take it that far).Gone ... or have I?0 -
Yeah that's suddenly become very apparant. I deleted all work friends from it last night0

It's not like you were sharing confidential information though, just sharing your worries. Best to not mention any work things on there again though. Hope you don't get in any further trouble from this, it's a minefield out there.0

If you have work friends on your facebook, best not to display public statements like that, as for disciplinary, im sure he could. If you challenged im sure it shouldnt really be upheld in a tribunal.
If he is looking for any excuse to get rid, then constructive dismissal could be a potentially sucessful claim for a weak excuse.
I stick to things about ME on my facebook, nothing work, no shops, no other people. If I have a problem with them, I ring them or sort it.
No one can sue me for talking about the weather or going for a walk... unless im on a sickie at the time lolPlan

He probably could yes. Given he's given you a chinning about it already he hopefully won't now but I agree with the others, be a bit circumspect about what you post on FB if you have workmates on there too.0

There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
