o2 router keeps losing internet

Hi everyone

Not sure if i should post this thread here or on techie board :o.

Anyway here it goes , i have o2 router that keeps losing internet connection eg all the lights on the router start to flash , then suddenly it (i think) restarts or resets and internet connection is lost .This happens every 5-10 mins

Can any one point me in the right direction to get this problem solved .

Find out how to obtain your router statistics.
    http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php

It will involve logging in to your router and looking around for show router sttistics or similar, and post them here.
Your router should ideally be plugged into your master BT socket, not an extention.
To see if extension wiring is causing problems, remove the master faceplate and plug into the test socket.

What are you doing when it resets? Not using 4oD, by chance?

You'll need to log in as SuperUser to get your full router stats. Just google 'superuser o2' to get details Have you tried replacing the filter?

Call O2. I've never used their customer service, but by all accounts it's very good.

Hi everyone its me again !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Just a quick update .

O2 Have checked the line and theres no issues apart from high noise  16db, they say i have an internal wire problem !!

I have tried different router, new filters , in the test socket and still my internet connection drops out every 60secs .

question is " if i'm plugged into the test socket and i still have problems would this idicate a internal wiring issue or is this a line problem .

ps I'm thinking about purchasing a NTE5 faceplate thingy , but dont really want to purchase this if its not going to solve the problem .

Any advice would be great peeps ;)

If you're plugged into the BT test socket this isolates your internal wiring. So if the problem is still there, then it's a line problem on the BT side of the master socket, and you need to speak to your line rental supplier.
Tell them there is noise on the line (are you gettting noise and crackling on it?) and ask them to investigate it. Do not tell them that there is a problem with your internet connection. They may ask you to do the same tests again otherwise.
The NTE5 is irrelevant to the external problem. You could have an internal fault too but it's the external one that needs fixing first, then see what it is like using the test socket and then the extension socket.
