I will be voting, women have not always had the vote and still do not in some countries. Waits for the shouting!! Just a point! Yes you should not vote for the sake of it but at least be grateful that we in this country still can. Male or female. (Even if most are not worth voting for!) And no I won't vote just for the sake of it. Just consider!

Surely Nicholson has the backbone to deal with the Eurocrats?? He's been an mep for the past 20 years.

What mean is, he's old school and is bedded down in the European system now. He doesn't have the balls to challenge the Eurocrates in the same way De Brun and Alistair will do. I'm a Unionist, as you may have guessed, and I'm not necessarily keen on Sinn Fein, but I'll give them their dues when it comes to getting things done for the average person. Alistair is the same.

Its important to vote for the best person to represent us in Europe and not get sucked into the tribal voting as we do on local elections.

It's nice to see TUV and Sinn Fein uniting on their opposition to the Lisbon treaty.

I don't think Europe means enough to a lot of people to really go out and vote. I will definitely be voting but only because I truly believe that you have no right to complain about anything that is wrong with the country or the world if you don't try and change it.

I dragged my OH to vote at the last election over here and now he lectures everyone in his family about how they should be voting! Although he was also a little disillusioned afterwards- we received a letter from David Ford saying a "1" vote for him would keep Sinn Fein out. The letter which looked handwritten had been photocopied in blue ink (he seriously though David Ford had handwritted thousands of letters bless him) and both Alliance and Sinn Fein got in :rotfl::rotfl:

Think you need to ask the electoral commission about that one. You should have been given an opportunity to add him to the register earlier in the year when forms were sent to all households and the register would be noted that he couldn't vote until his birthday had occurred. I think the last date to register for this election has passed though.

I think it is disgraceful in a so-called modern democracy, that your vote is not secret. Only when this practice is reversed would I even consider casting a vote.
