Anyone Voting In The Upcoming Election?

Although I'm tempted not to vote as our local politicians are a useless bunch who will always play the sectarian game here at home, I hope the parties who are against the Lisbon treaty will win.
Sinn Fein are against the Lisbon treaty, so I hope De-Brun comes out top for the Nationalists and TUV aren't exactly pro-European so I hope Allister wins for Unionism.
Diane Dodds if elected will get chewed up and spat out in Strasbourg and Jim Nicholson hasn't got the backbone to deal with the Eurocrats.
So if 2 non-Lisbon parties make it, I'll be happy.
Pity Sammy Wilson wasn't nominated, he could have told those pesky Eurocrats that climate change isn't man-made :rotfl:Go Sammy, Go Sammy!0 -
Got my polling card today so I'm all set! Is it weird to be this excited about voting for the first time?0

she'll just bring her anti sinn fein attitude to the table give up dianne the war is over.
De Brun should retain her seat dont see the SDLP making a big massive impact for another few years.
Surely Nicholson has the backbone to deal with the Eurocrats?? He's been an mep for the past 20 years.
But yes wouldve been funny if sammy was nominated and won, he would be banning posters left right & centre0 -
Hay you guys, leave our Sammy alone.. He's a man of the people.. I even saw him "Slumming" it with the culchies at the Balmoral Show. Munching his way through a Burger whilst sitting on the Burger Van tow bar... No VIP Lounges, cumfy armchairs or waiter service with old Sammy.... And it was raining (Nothing to do with global warming though).
Was Sooooooooooooooooo tempted to ask him if he got a receipt for the Burger... After all the RULES do say you can claim for Food as Expenses!!0 -
I live in a first floor flat and have a poster of Jim McAlister staring in my living room.
Thinking reporting him as a peeping tom.:whistle:0 -
Another vote for the crusty tree hugger here
In the hope that he only looks like an idiot unlike the rest of that shower!0 -
Ummm.. Does anyone else think the day might come when it will be SDLP, CAUNF (What a name!), and Alliance?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

I haven't got my polling card and am starting to think maybe I won't be getting one.
I've actually met Steven Agnew and was really impressed by his words and commitment. He's a lot more accessible than a lot of them and isn't influenced by the "flags". And he's the only one I've seen trying to win "his vote". the rest of them are sitting on their laurels hoping that everyone will vote according to religion and as such don't have to tell us any policies. Time for a change to show them that they can't go on religion. Everyone always says its a wasted vote to vote green but I always go with what I hear.

Actually I was being flippant but I do intend to vote for him on the basis that I am worried about the whole green thing and global warming. And that he can't really be that much worse than the rest. Apparently he worked with the homeless before standing for this as well so I guess he knows a bit about social issues0 -

I don't agree with that, I'm not trying to advocate for one candidate over the other but I am rather impressed with Allisters record in Europe, it seems like he works tirelessly and has a good voting record etc. I was reading an article today which ranked him as one of the top performing MEP's over the past 5 years. I believe NI needs such a candidate in order to ensure we have the best representation in Europe, I agree with some other MSE's in that Dodds seems very lightweight.0
