I have a bag of mixed cabbage which i need to use up along with 1 leek which has seen better days and half a dozen small pots.
Can I make a yummy soup out of this and how would i go about it please?
I have chopped onions, beef, chicken and chinese oxos, herbs and spices.... you help is much appreciated as i really don't want to thow anything away.
Thank you good people of mse xLucylema x :j0 -
I would fry off the leeks (finely sliced) with some garlic, and some mixed herbs, then I would peel and slice the pots and add them to the pan and fry them off a bit. Then make up enough stock from your chicken oxo to pour over the pots and leeks. Bring to boil then simmer until the pots are breaking up. Cool down then blitz, taste and add seasoning to taste.
Personally I wouldn't use the cabbage, I always think it tastes a bit rank in soup.

i'd do leek and potato soup and then chinese cabbage stir fry or a spicy chinese cabbage soup(fried onions and cabbage in a broth of oxo, chilli and soy sauce, add noodles if you have them)Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0

while your all in here talking about soup i made a big pot in my slow cooker over night (from reduced soup packs in tesco) but i've just blended it and it smells funny, i do sometimes get this with my slow cooker and i assumed it was from over cooking it but really my soup was on low all night i son't see how it can be overcooker is there anyway to save it? i still ahve to put cream in it but i don't think thats gonna make that much diference

just to let you know, i have made leek and pot soup and its turned out really well but a little thicker than i wanted but i will think it down before i serve it. just need to make bread now to go with it - thats another challenge but i will ask mr lema to make that in the bread maker.
will maybe make the cabbage one later but i don't think mr lema will be very keen on that one.
thanks again for you help xLucylema x :j0 -

Another vote for Delia! But I don't follow her exact quantities
I have also added blue cheese to mine on occasion, to give a bit of variety!
