Not necessarily. Your complaint letter may not be enough to give them the information they need or your may have used a template letter that doesnt apply. e.g. used a loan PPI template letter but you have mortgage PPI.(a stalling tactic i believe but done it non the less).

Hi there
If you hear nothing by 8 weeks, you are entitled to move on to the FOS if you want to, but if your willing to give extra time that is up to you, but as you know you cannot go to the FOS until they have had the 8 weeks they are entitled to, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Complained to Clydesdale on 1/04/09,then completed questionaire, then standard letter from them saying questionaire not received, phoned them and found questionaire received by them two weeks previous, now received another standard letter thanking me for my patience(lol)and after eight(8)weeks they are still investigating my complaint and they aim to either update me or have a response within another 4 weeks, now I am going onto FOS as either Clydesdale are stalling or snowed under...:mad:0

Hi there
In regards to the questionaire, not everyone completes them, so they still have to investigate anyway, what many do is send a letter to inform them the questionaire was not completed (enclosed) as I am aware that you should hold my details from when you sold me the policy.
They should still continue to investigate by 8 weeks, good luck anyway, and if you hear nothing, go can go straight to the FOS.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

not filling in the questionnaire can work for some people but also against others. The questions are usually structured to find out if a mis-sale really happened or not. If you are telling the truth and were mis-sold then the questions shouldnt be a problem and will almost certainly help your case. If you are telling lies and making a fraudulent complaint then the questionnaire will usally work against you .I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Really though it should not make a difference if you do or do not fill in their questionairre. A lot of the questions on it they should have asked at the time of the loan anyway I would have thought. Probably best to not fill it in if there are any questions on it that you really cannot 100% answer truthfully. I don't mean that the claimer is deliberately lying to make a fraudulent claim but that its difficult to actually remember half the things in all honesty.0 -
yes they should. However, unlike advised sales they didnt document the questions asked and the answer. So, they dont have much of a record. This is why they are asking you.A lot of the questions on it they should have asked at the time of the loan anyway I would have thought.
True. However, this is a hangover from the endowment days where its estimated that 1 in 3 endowment complaints were try-it-on and PPI seems to be going the same way. Sometimes people do try to remember and get it wrong and then end up digging a hole for themselves.I don't mean that the claimer is deliberately lying to make a fraudulent claim but that its difficult to actually remember half the things in all honesty.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
