Haven Primrose Valley, near Scarborough

I will be staying at Primrose Valley in 3 weeks time, have booked a 3 bed Prestige caravan, but after having read reports on here about Haven's other parks I am getting a bit worried.

Can you please let me know your experiences of this park so I know what to expect.

Many Thanks

no idea about Primrose, but we've been to 3 different parks in the south and are off to Devon Cliffs in 3 weeks (our second time there).

We have a 4 and 3 year old and they love it!!

Caravan holidays are what you make it.

Primrose Valley is huge - much bigger than Blue Dolphin down the road - and it's absolutely fine! It's clean, spacious, plenty for the kids to do - there's a funfair! You'll have a fantastic time!

PS Remember to take a trip into Bridlington - the best fish 'n' chips in the world!

Thanks for the replies so far, Minxy_Bella I assume you have stayed there, great to hear your thoughts. I'm sure me, my husband and 2 year old son will love it, however its my parents, they are coming with us, they are in their 60's and quite particular about certain things, none of us have ever stayed in a caravan before, so it will be an experience if nothing else!! I just dont want to get a caravan that has seen better days thats why we have paid the extra for a Prestige. Do you know what these caravans are like?

Just been to Dolphin. 1st time in a caravan and its fine. I noticed that a lot of people camping are the ones that actually complaining

We stayed in a Prestige and it was great. No complaints and it was absolutely spotless

If you have kids check out http://www.playdalefarmpark.co.uk/.

Filey has a great beach, and you can hunt devil toes fossils. We found three which keep my four year old busy. Really nice fish and chips as well.

We went not expecting much, but we didnot want to leave!. Flamingtoland, NYMR railway and Scarborough are within traveller distance.

Brand new is the best way to descrbe them. in a few seasons I suspect they become Superior and after that Standard

Dont worry, its like a mini cottage!

Thanks Bazza, note you have been to Blue Dolphin, need to know what the Prestige caravans are like at Primrose Valley, getting really worried as I have just read the reviews on Tripadvisor. Need someone who has recently been there to reassure me about the caravans and the park. I am not expecting it to be 5 star just want nice and comfortable accommodation with plenty for a 2 year old to do.

Picures of the caravans look excellant the same on the Primrose site.

The caravans people where complaining about could have been privately let and not owned by Haven as there a huge mixture onsite. Haven had a check list about when things are service in our ban. The cleaner left a card confirming it had been cleaned with her name and a number to call if you werenot happy with anything. Very professional

I am replying to this post, as I was exactly the same pre trip!

Dont worry, I am sure everything will be fine

I've been to Blue Dolphin six times and Primrose Valley once and they're pretty much of a muchness, except that PV has been more recently refurbished - two years ago, I think??

The prestige caravans will be lovely, I'm sure - I always go for the standard tbh as they're fine. I think I had the Gold one once (which I think is now called Prestige) and it was super but the only difference was the width of the van, a dvd player and an earlier check-in time.

The thing with Haven is that you have to get into hi-di-hi mode :p as you'll be watching Bradley Bear until you could punch him out cold :D. I'm sure your parents will enjoy it!

Thanks Minxy_Bella, I was really looking forward to it until I read some reviews. You have put my mind at rest and cant wait to get into hi-di-hi mode, Bradley Bear on the otherhand will just have to be tolerated by us all :D, in the end its all about the kids having fun, I'm sure my son will love it all.

If you have any further suggestions on what to do or where to eat outwith the park, these would be appreciated, its such a long time since we have been to this area. The fish n chips sound sooo good and definately going to do Flamingoland and possibly playdale farm park. Someone mentioned peasholm park to me and have looked at the website, can anyone tell me if it will entertain a 2 year old?

Primrose Valley is brilliant for kids and adults alike. Brilliantly placed for Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington. I personally dont like Filey because its small and a dump. Robin Hoods Bay is worth a trip and the oldies would like Flamborough Head. Forget the revues completely.
Take lots of food with you though, the shops on the camp are really expensive.
But there are supermarkets in Scarborough etc.
Whitby is one of my favourite places. You'll have a great time :j:j
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
