I think the term "classic" must have changed over the years. Just my opinion mind.

    The RS marque, now yes, that's a historic marque..think RS1600/RS1800/RS2000/RS3100 (now that's a rarity, wasn't there an RS2600 too?)..THOSE I class as classic. Mk1 Escort - classic. Mk2 also. MK3 I can take or leave. MK4, meh, MK5 on, you're having a laugh etc.

Focus..no, I can't say it fits with classic. How many will we see cherished and running 26 years down the line, even if ford last that long? You can't really call anything post '90s "classic" IMO. The skill and driving experience isn't in it. Too many electronics, too much insulation from the driving experience.

Not to say the Focii aren't good - I rather like them, for all that the electrics are an !!!!, the fusebox is idiotic, the controls are flaky and the interior is just plain dull. My mothers Zetec does most things well, but long term..I can't see them being cherished as a rule. They just suffer from the "new car" thing of looking..well..boring. Hi tech plastic wizardry with plastic stick on tat. I feel the same about pretty much all recent cars (my own Astra included). The new fiesta I find mildly interesting, but that's it.

I can't say as I'd be willing to pay even 12k for the Focus RS. Or indeed any vehicle. 30k..having an utter laugh.

future classic? I doubt it. It's a focus. Was a fresh design, now getting dated. Slap on a facelift front and plastic tat..it's still a focus, and no ford is worth 30k.

I don't think any modern car will be a "future classic"...old classics are simple, built well (not to a price), and solid. New cars are plastic, flimsy, electronic (and all the hell that brings), and low quality compared to what went before.

I saw a MK1 Escort yesterday behind me, now THAT's a classic. Still not worth 30k though.

only time will tell,oh and history of course.
the only sure way to know is wait 40 years and see how many are still lusted after and have had hydrogen conversion kits fitted when we run out of oil. then we will know if its a real classic.

You've been watching Back to the Future again, haven't you.. :D

We have to account for personal taste Goldie and the lack of vision ;)

Meanwhile, smart people are buying them and selling them on, at a profit - not bad for a Focus 1.4 with extra plastic bits stuck on it! :D

Thank goodness he never got one of them! Hoping his RS 1.4 won't be too much slower than his present ST 1.4

Already being sold for more than retail price!

Enterprising, but frustrating for those who have them on order and still waiting!!

How much are they normally going for?

To be honest, the dash doesn't look any better than whats in my 6 year old Focus!

You can get some seriously nice cars for £30k. I just don't know why anyone would spend that on a Ford.

The Galaxy Ghia is about that new & thats a whole lot of Ford.

No. Not green, he deliberately avoided it as he said he would hate it after a week or two and there is the panel mismatch issue too. The blue, he was tempted, but it is a common RS colour and therefore decided on the white as it looks bl**dy good with the black accessories, as in mirrors, spoilers etc.

He tried to avoid the white originally as last two cars (ST's) are white! But the RS looks the best in the white.

I'll ask him to 'pop' up and see you on Wednesday but think he may not have the time!!

He's not intending to sell it straight away as he actually likes it and wants it! But think that a year down the line he may sell it.... Good investment tho!

I don't like white cars, but DH insists white is the new silver.

We both got silver, mine is pale his is bluey.

DD has a black car & they are lovely, but you got to wash them too often.

Another great thing about 4x4s they look good dirty. My car is 18 months old & gets about 2 washes a year:o
