I was thinking about Virgin, how are they different?

Is it just that they have their own lines?

I believe so. Don't hear many good things about them though, and they do break ;)

Yeah, you'll find your internet goes down when some foreigner digs up the fibre optics in search of copper

If you value your sanity, don't ever try to move from Sky BB

Can you elaborate? I am with Tiscali and was thinking of taking up the Sky offer to Tiscali customers. Also, if I ask Tiscali for a MAC code are they entitled to close my account straight away? I have heard they do that - is it legal?

Why would they close your account? they'd lose a customer if that did that... lol

I've lost hours and hours and hours just trying to get a MAC key out of them. Their systems suck at every level (from the phone answering system right through to their technical systems).

I've had to escalate the request, and have already had £30 compensation for cost of phonecalls and time wasted dealing with them. If i don't have my MAC key tomorrow, I'll be going ape. It does not take 2 weeks to get a MAC key

UPDATE: Submitted the MAC to O2 last night. :j :j :j

It only took: 10 days, 47 phonecalls, 23 hours and 48 minutes, 39 disconnections, 20 routings to the wrong department, 2 formal complaints, 52 call centre staff, 2 managers, a compensation payment of £30 and a lovely girl called Yvonne to get it.

Worth it? We'll see when the letter of complaint gets answered ;)

I too am fed up with AOL. I mean at 6am (so hardly peak time) the other morning I couldn't log on. One minute it's fine the next it's flakey as anything. Only good think is we get free landline calls with them along with the BB.
Still we are considering the change as we are thinking of cancelling Sky. We can't keep up with TV as it is and with a 3 month trial for Love film we just can't keep up with the stuff we watch. And lets face it life goes on if I don't see Grey's Anatomy! Plus Five is now getting some of the shows we like such as NCIS and The Mentalist so sooner or later they will have everything!

AOL have free email so I assume that I will be able to keep my current addresses.

Was thinking of Virgin but really don't hear anything good about them. Are they really pants?

I was going to go for O2, but I'm only in an O2 ACCESS area & its £20 & only 6 megs, so won't bother with that then.
Can get Virgin for BB, but not for TV, I wonder what that means re; services & speed?
My phone is with Talk Talk, maybe I should go with them?

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line rate up to 2Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 6Mbps or greater.

Does this meanh I can get fast BB?

Just spoke to Virgin, not an option either.

I live in a village, but only 8 miles or so from Crawley which is a very big town, its amazing the amount of services I can't get from where I am.

Can't get the cheap O2 deal, not their area.
Can't get Virgin, not their area.

I live in Surrey, not outer Mongolia!
