Hi DT! Nice to see you.
Can't believe OD is almost due - you must be very excited! I'm sure she has no idea what's coming, I certainly didn't - but she will be fine with a brilliant Mum like you on hand. (Hope she hasn't been watching "One Born Every Minute")

It sounds like things have been traumatic over your little foster babe :( Fingers crossed for her and a big hug to you. Take care x :)

    I am excited. 5 weeks today:beer:

We have watched it every week :rotfl:her partner only watched one and has managed to be out every week since I wonder why :D

    Hi DT!

I don't watch that one I'm afraid, but I'm really with you on making the most of the space - mine was like a waterfall, each bit you free up means you can free up a bit more - once I decluttered the garage, and tidied it as well, it mean I could store more stuff down there and still have it much, much clearer than it was before. That meant I could start using the 2nd bedroom, where a lot of the stuff had previously been .... a rolling win-win situation :)

How lovely to have a little grandchild to look forward to! You sound like you're really enjoying the anticipation too.

I am sure we will be woken as their room is right under ours and the sound insulation is poor - I am not sure about loving ever minute - daylight hours only would suit me just fine :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Been to the docs today for routine blood pressure monitoring it is not good:eek: - good job I am not pregnant or else I would be having an emergency c section tody which was what happened at 32 weeks with the little twins and I have been on medication ever since my mom who is soon to be 94 and had pre eclampsia when expecting me was fine today:o

So have an appt to see the doc on 9 Apr who is not going to be happy with me been on my new eating routine for about 10 days now not been sick with indigestion at all and been able to get to bed earlier but not lost any weight at all - gutted.

Thinking about it think I posted the problem on taxis thread so I will go and find the post and copy it so you know what I am going on about.

    DTxx

Ok this is a copy of part of the post on Taxi's thread

Well done on the weightloss and the increased exercise. This is an area I need to revisit having really bad time at the moment having to go to bed really late cos if I don't I am sick with indigestion despite taking prescribed meds so am very tired. Tired last night so went early at 11.30pm usually it is 1am or later and was sick twice at 2.45 and 3.15 sorry TMI. Know that if i go to docs they will say lose weight so think I am going to cut evening meals out and have a bowl of homemade soup instead and see if i can get to bed earlier catchup on much needed rest and hopefully lose weight as well already have bowl for lunch and porridge and fruit for brekkie so think if I have more fruit during day that should be OK think I am going to give it a go for a week and see how I get on.

So indigestion wise and sleep wise its working but not on the weight loss front I know exercise is the answer here but I hate it and at my size it is bloody painful too - really do not know what to do - but must do something this is a problem that is not going to go away - the frustrating thing was I used to be really slim - always had a big bust but a very small waist so I know there is a slimmer me inside there somewhere waiting to get out but is being drowned by mountains of blubber. Sorry this is really upsetting me now.

Perhaps you are not eating enough right now - if you cut out too much, then your body goes into "starvation mode" and holds onto every calorie it can because it is worried that it is not getting enough. So eating too little can be as bad for your weight as eating too much, although obviously you would expect otherwise.

Also, eating every 3 hours can keep your metabolism going - imagine a steam engine with a coal fire.......you can't just shovel a load of coal on the fire at the beginning of the journey, you have to put a smaller amount on the fire more often to keep it stoked up and burning efficiently.

Have something for breakfast, then something every three hours throughout the day - smallish portions, so you don't get indigestion. Could be cereal, fruit etc, but for lunch and dinner try reasonable "normal" meals eg salads, meat & veg, pasta etc.

Exercise - doesn't have to mean going to the gym. Now that the spring is here (sort of) go for a walk round the block. It doesn't matter how far or how fast right now, but just moving more is what is needed. No need to sign up for a marathon just yet! Or take the children to the park and play frisbee......as good as playing badminton, fitnesswise, any day!

Its like the debt - babysteps, even though we want it gone in one go! Its a case of trial and error, and finding what works for you, and as you know from the debt boards, what works for one doesn't work for another on the debt free journey. So why would losing weight and getting fit be any different. Don't see one thing as a failure, just see it as something that didn't work for you so you are ready to try the next thing.

    Sound advice as usual.

My aunt is a regular at WW and SW and she told me to keep an eating diary and it turned out I wasn't eating enough, so as you say, body went into panic mode and stored it.

I have been out in the fresh air walking today and feel so much better for it. I always feel I am too fat to exercise, not a pleasant sight, but do enjoy a brisk walk.

Totally agree with Hypno and Gilligansyle, DT, but I'm so sorry you're feeling this bad. Being sick in the middle of the night is no joke at all :(

Portion control (and the small regular meals that go along with it) was vital to me when I got my weight under control in my late 30s - I've let it slip recently, especially with the illness, but I need to start working on it again - I don't eat terribly unhealthily, just big portions. Something I mentioned on another thread today as well might help in the medium term - if you have a lot of weight and exercise hurts because of it, would gentle aquarobics help? My mum went to a class for a year or so after my dad died, and she was 81! They really can be mixed ability.

This thing about not eating enough is really interesting - I can't believe it applies to me, as I eat twice what my sister and my mum do, but I'm often hungry, it must be said.

Well, anyway. I'm thinking of you, and if you just stay with us, I'm sure you'll find your way through this.......... Lots of hugs.
