    what colourdid it come out when you did it?

    It was a very very light blonde, but all over which really clashed with my brown eyebrows!

    For those who want to see what I'm talking about, in this picture

    - the first one on the right is what I did to my hair (my bodge job), the second one from the right was what I asked for (what I got the first time was probably half way between the two) and the fifth one from the right is what I have now - but darker and with more copper in it.

    This is what I looked like pre-everything.

    Oh this explains alot. Your hair was bleached to the colour which makes it very very poreous even with a semi perm colour. Bleached hair just grabs and hangs on. That is why your hair went so light when you did it at home.

    Ash blond even if you cannot see red tones does have it in there, its the chemical mix.
    You really would have been better buy an eyebrow dye and doing the brows lighter.

    i did the exact sam thing except i wasn't blonde before i was brown and just bleached it at home and it was VERY VERY yellow hated it then i got some lightening shampoo and it managed to lighten and look normal but it is wel know fact that if i had tried to darken it slightly to look more natural it would have come out ginger, that must have been what the hairdressers did he must have put something on it to darken it slightly and that must be why it has come out ginger!!that was defo his mistake!!
    in the end i just went a salon and said slap on brown dye job done have had it done for six months and it keeps getting lighter naturally

    i would seriously doubt you have any case here, a large amount of women experience the same thing and have bad experiences at hair salons every single day, they are not miracle workers the best you can hope for is say to the manager i wanted to be blonde but i am ginger sort it out, they have to keep customers happy there business is all about people recommending and word of mouth. if he refuses remember not to go there again and just get it sorted somewhere else, job done!
    when i had my hair done once i sat in a chair for 4 hours and said that i wanted it a lighter brown, by 6 o clock at night when she finished faffing it looked EXACTLY the same only the roots lighter i called up the next day spoke to the manager and he asked me to come down i did and they sorted it and made it lighter
    never went back!!!

    She does have a case and s.75 would protect her. Speak to the card issuer asap and instigate s.75 proceedings immediately. Then ring the salon, speak to manager and tell him;

    - You are entitled to a refund/chargeback under s.75 of the Consumer Credit Act and are giving them one last chance to put things right before utilising this;
    - You know someone in the local paper and have no qualms about going to them and asking them to report this incident with photo's before/after which will show the cavalier approach taken by your stylists;
    - You will legally stand outside the salon and speak to passer-by's advising them of the service received by you and your staff;

    Then tell him, if he refuses to deal with you and conduct himself properly in line with current legislation you will also consider legal action for compensation as this has humiliated you and affected your persona/confidence. It is easily fixed and to avoid a host of mess and embarrassment, advise him it would be in his best interests to fix it and fix it for free.

    If he fixes it then you will not request a refund, but you do expect a letter of apology from the salon with a voucher to get a free colour/cut in the future as a gesture of goodwill. Explain the alternative would be an appearance at court which, inevitably, he will lose.

    They should have liability insurance for situations like this and if not, its his own fault.

    See how you get on.......

    Seems to me this hairdresser is trying it on hoping you don't want to be thought of as vain (which is daft as if we weren't vain they'd be out of business)
    Talk to the creditcard company and set a chargeback in motion and go see the manager. You paid for a professional service -their qualified hairdresser said he wasn't happy with the job he had done and asked you to return for him to complete the job to his professional standard and he bodged it.
    Is this a chain or an independent hairdressers and do they belong to any of the hair-dressing trade associations which have a code of conduct for these situations ?

    Yep - It was these people.

    http://www.charliebrownhairdressing.co.uk/home.asp

    My problem is the stylist who did my hair was the manager of the salon. He now says that he can't authorise a repeat dye until the owners of the salon comes back - all three of them, and if I want to fight their refusal to help me I have to go in for a meeting with all three of them, which makes me a bit nervous. It feels a bit like a trap to me and I think I'd find it hard to justify myself in front of THREE people all telling me my hair is fine. (Which it is, it just isn't what I paid for!)

    I'm still going to do it, but I'm upset that they're requring me to do it.

    NO - do not do it. Tell them you will meet the manager and him alone, in a neutral venue of your choice (pick a local coffee house like Starbucks).

    You are in control here, not them. In fact if you must go to the salon and face the spanish inquisition then mention you'll bring your solicitor along to keep things in check and record the whole session.

    They will then back down and realise they are breaking the law asking you to do this.....

    I don't have a solicitor! Lol.

    What's annoyed me the most is the owners are all away on holiday until a week tomorrow. I can't imagine they have, but leaving a salon with no one there who is able to authorise fixing any problems that come up is really unprofessional.

    The guy on the phone said the reason they were refusing was because I'd already HAD my hair fixed - the second time I came in. So far this whole thing has been conducted as a conversation between the original stylist and the manager, with the stylist relaying what's been said to me on the phone. Of course he isn't going to tell HIS boss - Yeah I screwed up.

    So in a way I do want to see the manager - if nothing else to just say - LOOK. This is what I asked for and this is what I got, but meeting all three of them - AND waiting a week to do it while they spend my money on swish holidays feels a bit like a kick in the teeth to me!

    I think I'm going to call capital one tomorrow and make 1000% sure I can do a chargeback, then go in on Tuesday and demand to speak to someone who can authorise a repeat dye. If there's no one there then I WILL stand outside with the picture I posted above and tell everyone I see that that is what I asked for, and that no one inside is willing to help put their mistake right. Maybe they'll suddenly find someone who isn't on holiday then :P
