A house at the other end of our road has just gone up for sale & being nosey I went to look it up but as it was with an agent I didnt recognise I just googled our road + house for sale. I saw an ebay link for a property so clicked it - it was me!!! Never knew I was on ebay - looks like it is zoopla with a classified ad - never heard of it before so I was quite shocked. And I've just seen that the ad was placed after we accepted our offer
Strange, but thinking about it, am sure I saw my house on ebay in the early days as my EAs were using all online portals possible, so maybe it's a done thing?

weird, i had a look too mine isnt but other properties down our road are. how strange lol

Just had feedback from yesterdays viewing. Apparently our house is immaculate but "not what shes looking for" the agent then asked what she was looking for to which she replied that she didn't know! I'm getting really frustrated with this whole thing. Fair enough its not what shes looking for, but to not even be able to give a reason?
Where do I go from here? Nobody has blamed the price or the presentation now in any of the viewings. We had one couple who liked it, but hadn't yet sold their own house. One couple didn't like the split garden (obviously hadn't read the details properly) a young man viewed twice and loved it, but his father was stumping up the cash and wanted him to buy something he could add immediate value to. Then there was the woman who went out viewing properties then decided to buy her parents house. I feel like we are getting window shoppers rather than serious buyers. Anybody else feel like this? X0 -
Sorry that nothing came of the viewing Jen. I know how you feel - it's a bit like the world's just stringing you along. My bf keeps saying that there is an average of 10 viewings before an offer and as we've had 8 now then we must be getting close
I'm sure the right person for your house will turn up sooner or later. Just keep your fingers crossed that September sees a bit of an upturn in viewings!0 -
Jen
We felt exactly like that until eventually someone we thought was not serious asked for a second viewing and bought our house in five weeks!!! You never can tell.
Our relative's bungalow has now been reduced by £5,000 and is the cheapest one in the area on Rightmove now.
We were due to have another look this morning at the house we finish buying on the 3rd of September so we can visualise where furniture goes etc. Got a phone call late yesterday afternoon from an embarrassed EA to say vendor was too stressed to cope with us having a second visit today or at all .
Just hope we get completion on Friday with vacant possession and can move in properly on Saturday but not hopeful as every time our vendors say something - they change the goalposts - sigh."This site is addictive!"

Hi I know exactly how you feel, we have had the same problem. We are even getting people phone up the agent on the Saturday morning wanting a viewing that afternoon but are not even on the market!! Not entertaining that with 2 small children and a dog to clear up after - not for window shoppers on a rainy day anyway! We also get viewings that are arranged then cancelled at the last minute because they are seeing other houses that are obviously more important - gggrrrrrr!! We would really like to move to be nearer work and childrens school but we can cope as we are if we have to. This is too stressful to carry on with buyers expecting the world and being so non committal. Ours is the cheapest detached 3 bed property in our area, maybe our potential buyers see this and know its fairly priced but because they are looking for a bargain they won't come and look at it!!! Perhaps we ought to put the price up by 20k!!! We will give it until the end of September then give up until the market resumes some sort of normality. Hope you get an offer soon. x0 -
Speaking as a buyer, I find being asked for feedback excruciating. I'm definitely guilty of blaming the size of the garden, for example, to explain my lack of interest in a property.
In reality, I've seized on a detail that I figure will not upset the owner. I will happily see a house where the plans have already indicated a garden smaller than I'd like. My hope is that the rest of the house will somehow compensate. If it doesn't, of course I'm going to blame the size of the garden.
It's very much kinder than the truth, which is usually "the kitchen and bathrooms were naff in 1989, the extension is a gerry-built disaster, and the vendor's price expectations for that gopping dump are delusional".0 -
Hiya all, can I join in too? We put our house on the market earlier this month and managed to thrash out an offer yesterday. My blood pressure was sky high. I went a little lower than I'd hoped but not a huge amount and they met us in the middle.
My only problem is I have no idea about the processes or timescales involved :O It's all very confusing at times. We bought this one as ftb's and it wasn't in a chain so all went through in about 5 weeks
so far, it's a small chain & we're leaving the area so I have lined up 10 viewings next weekend and I have 3 or 4 'favourites' out of the 10, one of which is chain-free which has made it appear all the more attractive lol Our (potential) buyers are selling through the same agent so hopefully that will help and their (potential) buyers are not in a chain and have the funds in place already:silenced:0 -

I personally would rather have the truth - at least you could make some changes/improvements to the property based on the feedback. To be told the house is 'lovely' is not very helpful or that the 'garden is too small' that's something that cant be changed & so is really frustrating. I'd rather the truth any day!0 -
Good for you, Rosered.
When someone tells you the house is "lovely" but doesn't elaborate or make an offer, this is code for "too expensive for what it is.";)
A few of you seem to be blaming "nosey" buyers or chains that are struggling to complete. Shouldn't your agent be filtering these people out well before they're booking appointments to view? They need to establish that the viewer has financing in place and/or has already got their property under offer at the very least.0
