Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sat 23 May. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning....All quiet here, everyone is in bed and it is not raining.
Fishing was fairly enjoyable yesterday, despite all weather forcasts the sea was rougher and windier than predicted. Made it a bit uncomforatble. Caught a few fish and on the whole it's a great day out, but tiring.
Off to Plymouth today as DD has a doctors appointment so that she can get compo for a car accident... some time ago.... worth the trip, I can claim expenses apparently. No wonder our insurance costs are so high.
Need to go to the shops, but it's a bank holiday and Cornwall is packed, so it will be a challenge, so I think I will go early. RTTS in Newquay if any one of you came down?
Hopefull of a relaxing weekend, with a possible trip out somewhere.
OH got a large tax rebate yestersay for all the tax she paid since 2007. Seems she never made the threshold during the year so got it back.... Worth checking if you are a low wage earner or have had several jobs!
Well, folks, have a good weekend

Good morning N9eave, and all who follow.
Lovely and sunny here, despite a dubious forecast for today. Hope it lasts - I got sunburnt yesterday and I was only pottering around the garden. Still, I should stay indoors - I have loads of ironing to do.
Walked the neighbours' dog again last night, with DH's help - he pulls so hard on the lead, he drags me along behind him. I don't think he's ever been taught to come to heel - well, with the help of some doggie treats, he's learning now! We don't have dogs, so this is a whole new experience for us. Anyway, the long walks are doing us all good!
Dinner tonight is undecided because I need to go shopping, so I'll decide later. Last night we had Toulouse sausages, mash and my HM baked beans. Heinz costs a fortune here, to I've been experimenting with alternatives.
Anyway, must go and get DH up.
Have a great day, everyone.

Didnt catch up with the thread yesterday so (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one.
I have woken up to what feels like the warmest day of the year so far with a stinking cold and sore throat  so feeling very urgh at the moment.
Not sure if much os will be done today because of the above but will try - also probably will spend some time in the garden chilling.
Have a lovely day and hope you get to enjoy the weather.

Morning all,
Halight, its a shame my OH is not here at the moment, he has just gone off to a car boot sale, but he is a complete boffin on binoculars, and could tell you the best ones to get for your cash, I will ask him later and post just incase you are still on.
One load on the line and another two to do, I always have a lot on saturday, OH work clothes and school uniform. Last week I sent dd out with £20 to get a new school jumper, they have to wear a certain one, I told her she needed a 36 chest, but no  she came home with a 34 Because she wanted it tighter , so its now shrunk small enough to fit the dog, I have told her she will have to put up with the old one now, makes me :rolleyes:
Nice day here today, not sure what we are up to, dd is not seeing her dad this weekend as he is working, so we need to think of something that all three of us will like.
There is a plant sale today and tomorrow at an open prison near here, the prisioners grow the plants and the display they put on is beautiful, so will go and have a nosy there later on, get some more bits for my garden.
My mum found a baby pigeon about 1 day old, in her garden, there was evidance that the mother had been got by a fox, anyway, mum and dad took it in, and mum has had it down her brafor two days to keep it warm, its now gone to a friend of mine whos husband rears them, so mum can wash her bra now :T:D, he was a sweet little thing, eyes not even open yet.
Quick tidy round today, need to hoover, and mop floors, empty bins, and do the washing, then the day is ours. Tea tonight is a quick but nice one, pate, cheese, nice bread crisps and tomatoes :T, I am sure OH will manage that.
Have wafflled on quite a lot this morning, so will end now, have good days all xx
Oh just a quick one OH is also going to pick up spme local asparagus at the bootie, so will have that tonight as a starter0 -
Hello folks, havent posted for a very long time, but need to get things seriously in control again. It was lovlier here earlier but has clouded over - just as the washing machine is finishing!!! Going to look out all the odds and ends for a car boot we are doing next week - first one - but even if we get a few pounds towards holiday fund it will be worth it!! Also going to walk into town and go to the individual local shops instead of Mr T's and just buy whats needed. Hope you all have a good day.
cheers

Morning everyone!
It's dull, overcast and raining that light smirry stuff here in the Hebrides. Think we've got this for most of the day
DH is off to work, he's on til 1 and this evening he's going out for a meal with the rugby lads (no co-incidence that the final of the Heineken Cup is on, eh?) So, it's just me and the dog today! Not sure what I'll have for tea - maybe an omelette as I've got lots of eggs in just now.
Going to spend the day writing up my reports for Uni, they need to be in next weekend and I'd like to have them done well before then. But first, need to take the dog out for a walk.....
Hope you all have a good day and that the sun's shining where you are?
PS - just noticed that the forum is scheduled to be down between midday and 7 pm Today! That might help with the report writing, as I'm guilty of coming on to have a look at the various threads, when I'm meant to be busy doing other things!0 -
Morning all,
We're having a BBQ tonight so will dig deep in the freezer and get something to throw on it, just need to shop for salad.
I ordered 2 silver plated Birth Certificate holders that came y/day. 1 for DD2 and 1 for DNiece whose babies are 10wks and 3wks old. I'll see if I can get them engraved. Don't know what the cost will be.
Just need to vacume bedrooms and dust through, not a lot needs doing.
I'm having a break from re-pointing today so will get some much needed weeding done and pot up some plug plants.
Hope you all have a good w/end.0 -

Morning,
Overcast here today, hopefully it will brighten up later
No real plans for today or the weekend, although I do need some soap powder for work, so a trip to Makro is on the cards. They have got Daz, Persil & Bold on offer for anyone who has a Makro card. The actual offer details are in their offer leaflets, which online as a PDF.
I took some YS stewing steak out of the freezer yesterday, so I think I'll shove it in the Remoska and maybe turn it into a pie later.
I have managed to find a knitting group near me, it's held on a Monday afternoon in a little coffee shop, I couldn't go this week as I've hurt my arm and I don't think it'll be on, on the Bank Holiday, so I'll dig out my needles and maybe some dishcloth patterns.

Morning all
Cloudy here so far but at least no rain - fingers crossed!
WM on, bm on, have cleaned and tidied kitchen. Ended up having a meal out last evening, was out shopping and got too hungry to come home and start cooking so OH voluteered to treat us - was lovely;)
Shopping again this morning, have a couple of options for later this evening, can meet up with family in city centre for drinks or may have friends here for BBQ/drinks (depending on weather) - think in view of the fact that I have been out for the past 2 evenings and we have wedding weekend next week (for which we will need lots of money) perhaps staying home might be the most sensible option. It is so expensive to go out in the centre and could see the family tomorrow instead - oh well shall see how we feel a bit later:rolleyes:
Have been up since 3.15 this morning, could not sleep at all last night, will probably be flagging later, so best get on while I can.
Hope you all have a lovely day.
