I'm sure you will find the right one Lee - as long as you do the research!! :D:D

Alot of 'cheap' ones out there, as we know, but it is finding one that has been well maintained and up to date on the servicing.

You will find some prejudice on here at times, as we all have our favourite cars or makes.

    So
you know that these cars will be ok then? you can tell that much from a few photos, you are good lol

Why not ring up a few of them and go and have a look?

You assume only the cars listed for £2.5k will be any good??

I think you may need to do a bit more homework as regards how much a 12 year old Lexus is actually worth.

    HTH.

    Inactive,
I listen to everyone, and dont just hear what i want to hear,im not that stupid lol . So you think that its not a good idea to spend 2k on car too then do you ?

As I said at the start of this thread, I would not buy a Lexus of that size, however, if I was, I would certainly be looking at the sub £1000 ones, as well as those costing more, it really doesn't matter what age a car is after about 10 years, as someone else pointed out.

Condition, maintenence, history are the most important factors in any used car purchase..

Now I havn't seen any feedback on the cars that you have tested so far, I presume that you have been to test drive a few???

He may well do, but he is talking some sense on this thread, so fair play to him.

Lee seems to be starting at the top price wise and a bit reluctant to work his way down, assuming that cheap cars are bad cars, as well as not being in the colour he wants (totally fair). Broker Dave has the attitude of starting at the lowest priced car, in the colour you want, with a full Lexus service history, and working your way up to what is good enough. What if you view a £600 and can't find a fault? Loadsa money saved...

I would advise the Op against getting anything near a J reg. They are 'cheap' for a reason. Suggest if Op can stretch himself, he gets a later model.

A looked after '92 is just as good a car as a looked after '95?

Agreed, and can of course be better, the age of a car is of no real consequence, especially when they get much over 10 years.
