Am I living in the twilight zone? do people really ask shops to accept coupons for products they have not actually bought ?????

yes people do try and use a coupon for an item they haven't bought, i used to work for sainsburys and i had customers who would hand me coupons for things they hadnt bought so i kindly told them i wouldnt accept it as they hadnt bought the item

tesco don't pay their cash office staff any more money for processing the coupons though do they.....they have to work harder but they get paid the same, no loss for mr T, only a gain.....

I can't work out if you are pulling my leg or not ...

There isn't a minature sweat shop full of Indian street children in each branch! Back office staff aren't paid piecework, they are paid an hourly rate like every other supermarket employee.

Right, just been into 2 different Tesco stores today, and used internet coupons easily, with no bother whatsoever. Just clearing up the water here, there does seem to be a lot of confusion.

Hi, this is not related your problems with tescos but have you had a full benefit check to ensure you are getting all you are entitled to. You can do this via cab, unemployed workers centre or your local council's welfare rights service.

Its not right that you should be struggling like this.
I agree, anyone in this situation would be entitled to income support, child benefit, child tax credit, housing benefit, council tax benefit, free school meals, prescriptions etc. If you are getting all your benefit entitlement you are not living in poverty (in fact may be better off than some working people). Coupons are fine but part of MSE is also learning to budget the money you are given.

Yes you can. In tesco and asda, not sure about sainsburys.
You can't use them in Morrisons on the self service tho.

It is a lot easier, as you just scan the coupon and pop it into a slot on the till
Although some store operatives and managers might prefer you to use normal till and also if the self scanner beeps at you it looks more dodgy than when at a normal till I think. Just a thought.

For the above read 'yes Tescos do take coupons for items not bought'.

    It's their policy.
