    To reiterate.
If you spent an hour looking at the checkouts how many customers will be handing over a wad of coupons. Not very many. Most of the people I know may on occasion use a coupon for something they have bought. We the crazy coupon users are in the minority have no doubts about that. If the number of coupon crazy people suddenly trebled then there may be a problem. But remember the problem would have been brought on by Tesco's as long as, like me, people were adhering to the rules.

You know that, I know that - and so do all of us happy couponers. But even just one or two customers doing that in a week does appear to get some staff and managers hormones jumping!

Apparentley asda are at it now, they won't take coupons unless you have bought the product, not sure about using internet coupons though! But again it will depend on which checkout op you use, as some make their own rules up!

I think they just get stroppy about the coupons when people are obviously taking the p*ss... I was stuck in a queue behind a woman who was using a massive stack of baby food/ nappy coupons to pay for several bottles of whisky, which is probably a bit wrong. Personally, it wouldn't have bothered me, except that it took for ever to scan all the coupons, and I don't want to be stuck in out mangy Tesco for any longer than necessary! But there's always some idiot who can't do subtlety - like the woman who was sorting through an enomous stack of credit cards, all of which were in men's names, trying to work out which one she could get away with using.

Usually the self-scan checkouts will accept anything that has a legible barcode, but in our Tesco all the coupons have to be checked by staff, then they have to poke the coupon slot with their ID cards as the sensors don't work. But I've never had a problem with internet coupons. Just luncheon vouchers - nobody seems to believe they still make them. But the branch that isn't even accepting their own coupons, well, that's just ridiculous and the manager wants shooting. Write an arsey letter to head office, I'm sure they will send you something.

I don't think they take them where you live!

Besides if you started using them it might spoil it for a really nice bloke who lives in your area.:rotfl:

Asda oficially stopped taking coupons (unless you buy the product) at the end of last year - Oct/Nov time I think.

It certainly is true - I stated in my post that they OFFICIALLY stopped taking them last year ! I didn't say that they were not being accepted in any Asda ever. There is plenty of comment on here and PTS to confirm this is true. If your Asda is still taking them then you are very lucky - but you should not count on it going on as its probably just a case of some CAs have either not been trained properly or have got the hump with Asda and decidied to do as they please.

I forgot to say many if not most Asda stores have taped up all the slots at the self scan tills !

This new policy is also on the Policies thread at the beginning of updated coupons etc.
