Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 22 May. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Good morning all,
N9eav, enjoy your fishing.
It’s not often you see me about at this time of the morning.Ds2 has a bit of a cold and he woke coughing at 3.00am. I settled him back to sleep but couldn’t seem to do the same for myself so I’ve been awake half the night. On the positive side I enjoyed watching the dawn break and it’s a lovely morning, so with luck it will stay dry and we’ll be able to get out and about later today.
Other plans for today include a general clean, dust and tidy round for the weekend, getting the washing onto the line, swishing the bathrooms, and going to Homebase to take advantage of the 10% off weekend. As there are only three of us home tonight, I’m thinking of persuading Mr Pink that it’s a good idea to go out for tea, so hopefully no cooking tonight.
There’s a continental market in the city this weekend and I’d love to go and have a look around as I really enjoyed it last year so I’m hoping the weather stays fine for that.
Off to make another coffee, I hope you all have a good day.

Morning all,
Well it's been a sunny day here at long last so caught up with all the washing. Did the floors, bathroom & sorted out the photo albums. That took all afternoon as I just had to look through them all. To think I thought I looked smashing in some of them, is beyond belief.I can't believe either that DH use to wear shorty shorts. :rotfl: Obviously we were made of sterner stuff back then.
Everytime I read Where's Sybil? Faulty Towers springs to mind. That show was so funny.
Pink Hope the weather stays fine. The market sounds great.
Bargainbird Loved the photo's and you have beautiful children. So adorable.
Well DH has just come home from work so I'll get him a cuppa as well. Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all,
N9eav - happy fishing
Pink - enjoy the market and shall I lend you my matchsticks for your eyes?!!
Weather is lovely and bright here. I just hope it lasts.
Worked out what might be killing my veggies, possibly cabbage root fly. So either need to try and protect the plants or start from scratch again. Might go with the former as don't want to have to buy more compost (as I'd need to, used all the rest of it with the last lot of seeds).
Can't muster much energy at the moment. Been up since 5.30am thanks to DD. Might go and sample a coffee and perk myself up.
Off out tonight on the razzle with the girls. A friend recently became an official british citizen and so we're going out to celebrate (as if we need the excuse). That being the case H will have to fend for himself for tea as we're getting something whilst we are out. Really looking forward to it whoo hoo :j:j:j:j:j:j:j
Heres hoping the weather sticks. Would be lovely for the kids to spend more time in the garden today.
Have a great day everyone, OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all!
I'm a returner to OS from a few years back. Decided I've got into bad habits and the lovely tomato &cucmber plants I've just acquired have given me the kick I needed to get back into it. Half-term coming up with lots of marking looming-going to be tough to stay on budget.

Morning N9eav and Pink-winged
N9eav I love the post this morning very short and definitely to the point:rotfl:
Pink-Washing on the line:eek:Its rained so long here I've forgotten what its like to hang washing out:D
Well its yet another grey and grim day here in Lancashire it even started to rain as I bid OH farewell:mad:I run round like a headless chicken yesterday so I intend to take it a little easier today.I've got an Asda delivery due between 11 and 1pm.Some much needed milk should arrive I've never been this low on the white stuff before its frightening:eek::D.I'm going to strip my bed and wash the bedding in a bit.Not a lot of chance of getting it out on the line so TD will have to do.I'm making Beef Cobbler for tea with new pots and veg and jelly and ice cream for the tinies.
Speaking of tinies my four are in deep disgrace as I bought them a set of Primeval DVD's to watch and YS has ruined them by dragging them down the wall.I wouldnt have minded so much if they hadnt specifically asked if they could watch them on their DVD's in their rooms and if I hadnt warned them to keep them out of YS reach as he is a devil for ruining discs. So what do they do they put the flaming discs on his bed and then look all innocent when he's ruined them grrrrr Kids they drive you nuts at times:mad:.I think some serious bedroom tidying will be their penance today:D
Right thats my little rant over.Have a good day everyone

Good Morning All
Enjoy your fishing N9eav, your night out Bitsy & yours too if you get out Pink.
Another beautiful day here, OH has nearly finished staining the decking and is laying the patio tomorrow so hopefully the sun will stay out and we will be able to enjoy the garden over half term. Must bank up the potatoes today - need to find some earth to do that. All the veggies are looking good at the moment :j
For myself it will be the usual washing ironing and housework. Some paperwork thrown in as well. Will try and get the dogs out for a long walk - so I can enjoy the sunshine too.
Popped in some charity shops yesterday to try and find some old blankets for the dogs - couldnt find one. We are at a boot sale on Sunday so will try there.
Best be off now, have a great day.

Phew - at least we were spared N9aev's tackle this time - have a great time
Up at 4.30 this am due to early night with headache. Managed to get so much done and the thought of breakfast isn't making me heave so it might be a good idea to try and do it more often.
dd(12) at mr caring sharing's for the weekend - it seems that shared care doesn't extend to her appointment with the ENT consultant on Tuesday week or indeed her pre asessment but if we're very lucky he may be able to pick her up after surgery - hmm It also does not extend to money for her school trip or indeed shoes - we are currently Not Talking!
Tea tonight will be something naughty - maybe steak and a bottle - as i will be Home AloneI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Morning all,

Welcome back katzan x
OS will be not a lot today, general tidy through and a wash tonight, and a hm made dinner.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
Another 5am-er here. Why does my brain insist on having a conversation at that ungodly hour? and fail me for most of the rest of the day.
Got the BM & WM going. Soaked some lentils overnight and is now simmering itself into soup.
Doing pork loin steaks, stuffed peppers, corn on cob for DD2, SiL2b mine and DH's dinner tonight. Must catch up on ironing and do a quick S&S in the kitchen and bathrooms then back to re-pointing once DH picks up more sand and cement.
Tried phoning DB2 last night to see how he got on at the hosp but no answer so will try later today.
Off to read y/days thread. See yah later.0 -
Morning Everyone
Welcome Newbies :hello:
Woke up early and couldn't get back off, so got up and put a fruit loaf in the panny. I have worked out that it allows at least half an hour "rest" time, so now I switch it on and start it while I have the pan out weighing and adding ingredients, so is ready sooner, doesn't seem to make much difference as far as I can see. Sugar-free jelly made and fresh strawberries added £1 Netto, I cooked some mince in the SC last night so will have a Cottage Pie tonight in the 'van when our friends arrive, we can get their earlier so will do dinner tonight, and then tomorrow is theirs, will just need to warm it up so easy tea.
Need to load the 'van with clothes and fresh fridge contents, was intending to have it done by yesterday but failed again. Computers do they take time up. since coming back at the end of April, the HD died on the desktop, the new and not cheap router is playing up and needs to go back for replacement (7 day turn around so doing it while I am away) and the laptop needed a new motherboard yesterday, and so I did a wipe clean and rebuild. Plus going to see GNeice & new GNephew. The GNeice nearly 7 is so appreciative of anything yesterday I took a Poundland Hannah Montana sticker book, and she was thrilled to bits, loads of paper in it for writing and drawing which she loves doing.
Will see how the Blackberry works for keeping in touch while we are away.
:grouphug: to those MIA, not 100% or would just like one :grouphug:
Smokey, Twink, etc. Where are you, give us a wave.
H-J;)
Take care all.
