You will struggle to get a mainstream card! Forget the fact you 'think' you have good credit cos you have nothing, that is not true! You are a very high risk with one month of address history to your name, as the rolling register will provide current details but won't backdate 4 years to include previous addy etc....
You need to look at setting your sights lower, much lower.... shabbey is another mainstream card2010 - year of the troll

can I just ask why on hell this E/R is SO important? proof of ID? proof of address? isn't my passport + bills with my current address + last payslip with my current address + bank statement with my current address ENOUGH to claim I am who I am!?!?!?!??!0

NO! It is a key part of lending criteria and shows stability!
No point arguing with it mate, its the way it is and all they have to verify you electronically. Its always been like that and most probably always will be like that!
Just look at sub-prime cards such as the ones quoted above. You've no chance of a mainstream card with no e/r data present.2010 - year of the troll

... burocracy...
Sorry if I may sound someone asking questions to which answers are obvious, but this whole credit check process to get a credit card is very new and intricate to me and I do not know all the details of it.
Are we saying that even after August (date by which the E/R + the Experiam database will be updated with my new address) I stand little chance of getting a mainstream cc due to having me in this address for not so long?0 -

Just a thought...why don't you approach your current account provider for a card? After all, no-one knows your financial circumstances like they do.0 -

Exactly. I have 2 mainstream cards, I got those after living here 3 years with 2 showing on my credit file.

so are we saying then e.g. no mortgage until I stay for at least 2 years at this address, i.e. rented accomodation?0

Not necessarily because mortgages are assessed differently in that you pay a deposit, you live at the address you;re borrowing against etc.
Mortgages are assessed quite differently and more on affordability as opposed to scoring. Both elements are used but scoring can be overruled.2010 - year of the troll

I just apply for the post office credit card and got the message that they will let me know in 5 days. I have no adverse and i am on the ER.
What do you guys think yes or no ?0 -
PARIS 5000,
as YorkshireBoy said earlier, it could be that they were in doubt when you applied, which is why they will let you know in 5 days. In my case what I received in 5 days was the request for all the paperwork I listed in the first post on this thread. Quite a hassle.
Let us know how it goes, just to understand whether it is now a general policy that the PostOffice is applying given the current climate?0
