To completely abolish termination charge would be a bad move from the consumers point of view. The mobile companies would then adopt the American system where there is an incoming charge levied on the mobile user for incoming calls as well as outgoing.
I would rather have the mobile companies reduce the termination charge than to abolish it.0 -

The whole idea of this is to get the termination rate reduced to what it actually costs, not reduce it to zero. I agree if it was completely removed then the consumer would probably end up paying for incoming calls.
With low MTRs, 3 will be able to offer you a guaranteed, revolutionary new type of contract:
£35 a month for ‘all-you-can-eat’ unlimited calls to standard landlines and UK mobiles. This would also include unlimited texts to UK mobiles and unlimited use of internet communication services, such as Skype and Windows Live Messenger in the UK, which we can already offer today.
This would be available with a choice of free mobile phones and have no hidden or unfair charges and a very fair “fair use policy”.
Now that would really bring the internet and mobile together!
Some of our rivals who make a lot of money from MTRs claim that lower MTRs will lead to charges to receive calls on mobile. We think that’s nonsense. We don’t charge for incoming calls now and we never will. If MTRs are lowered in line with actual costs, 3 promises that along with offering all you can eat deals:
"We'll never charge you for receiving a call on your mobile phone!"0 -
Also by bringing these rates down, it would enable reductions across the board. Pay As You Go rates could be as low as 2-3p per minute, similarly calling mobiles from landlines would be around the same price. Texts on PAYG could be as low as 1-2p
Sign the petition people and bring down the cost of calling for everyone

I understand the sentiment of signing up to the petition, however, what I don't like is the fact that this site has been set up by 3 (or Hutchison) with no reference to this fact.
I think it's great to think that 3 are trying to drive change like this - but please don't do so anonymously by trying to get people onto a mailing list that will ultimately belong to 3.
Being a cynic, I would think that in the not-too-distant-future, anyone that signs up to this site will at some point get 'special offers' directed to their mailbox......0 -
I'm not a fan of 3 so I'll pass, sorry...0

I understand how some people may see it as a shameless advertising technique by 3 but it is far from it.
3 have joined forces with other organisations including BT, moneysupermarket.com, The federation of small businesses, carersuk, GMB and the national union of students.
Together we are collectively forcing change to give a better deal and lower pricing to all UK consumers.
At the end of the day if these changes occur won't all UK networks be able to offer a tariff similar to what 3 have promised if they wanted to pass the savings on to their customers??0 -
As I said in my first post - I am all for the sentiment, and think that reducing the MTR to a reasonable rate is something that should be championed.
What I don't like is the fact that a major participant of this 'venture' is asking you to 'sign-up' to a petition, when hidden away in the terms and conditions - ie specifically the 'use of your personal information' area, is a disclaimer that you have to contact the 'dpa officer' at 3, if you don't want your details to be used.
If this 'organisation' had been set-up in a truly network independent way (be that 3 or BT or any of the other participants) then I'm sure it would gain more ground.
For me though...sorry....I'm not giving my details to 3 or BT for that matter (both of whom have a huge amount riding on the fact that they can succeed in this action) unless I can have a cast iron guarantee that I would not result in being targeted by 'spam' for their services.0 -

think you will find most large US mobile are giving free unlmited incomingSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

unlimited landline EU calls included, unlimited international texts aswell ? because in fairness this is minimal cost to 3
" no hidden or unfair charges and a very fair “fair use policy”....that wont get back the many 3 customers who abandoned 3
its not the service its quite great, its the t&C changes constantly every year thats allowed us to leave & its India customer services that have RUINED 3UK, until UK call centre is established ( closure of call centre the Scottish Business Enterprise gave 3UK absolute millions in grants ) very little people will recommend 3 from experience
3 may have saved a few million with 3 Global Services each year but the damage 3IndiA have done to 3UK as a brand is worth billions, I should know I was a 2003 founding customer until early 2009, the LIES India tell are beyond a joke, even ask them for 3's CODE OF CONDUCT/COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE
and they have no clue, neither do managers....OF A OFCOM REQUIREMENT, you wond find it in 3's website & if you have a complaint against 3 WEBSALES, 3 cannot even access the computer system - its a dealer, just OFFICIAL, to you & me behind the 3 logo & store website its dial-a-phone
Kevin the CEO at 3UK came from 3AU, he strpped the best plans while the other networks were matching or beating 3 and put in a poor AU cap plan and renamed it Mix n Match while making customers pay for handsets ( in way of Video calling bundles the majority of 3's customer do not use ! ) like AU, now that works in AU but while the other 4 UK networks give the handsets away on a similar plan about the same price as 3 minus the hansdset payments/video mins
Mix n Match only beats the T-Flex's flext plans on mainly calls, mainly texts users choose T-Mobile, its simple maths ANYONE can work out on the cost on each providers website, let alone unlimited texts on 4 other networks, granted you can get unlimited texts for 12 months on 3 but given 3 India most customers KNOW to avoid 3 as the 6 months shorter is not worth the hassle
the management/guidelines at 3 India mean staff are hopeless to help even when that breaches UK law, standards have risen GRANTED but service is still poor, after 6 years you'd have thought 3UK could sort out or sack 3 Global Services
consistently on Watchdog since 2003 EVERY YEAR
the product is not the problem or ever has been for most 3 customers 3 employee its the structure and management of the company, thats been since 2003 - try getting management from without 3 to turn it around instead of saying " we are addressing issues " - customers got sick of that POOR EXCUSE 3 years ago, and 3 has been running 100% longer since then with POOR customer service
Unlimited national calls and texts ? funny how 3AU are one of the only AU mobile telcos of the MAIN 4 not offering such, the MAIN Telstra have market share due to lans mass coverage & dont have to.....
Nothing 3 offers the market in the UK will save it now, the damage is done - stand up and apologise & bring back the UK call centres, or leave, BT are up for buying a mobile network best get in there before T-Mobile Germany beat you, as crap as T-Mob 2G network is at least it exists.....
I think its funny Hutchison Telecom (3's owner ) sold Orange Group for £20 Billion & wasted that alone on 3UK, let alone the other 3 markets, you wonder why 3 ( 2G ) in India was sold to Vodafone.....to clear HT debts to parent company HWL, India is the worls most emerging market, why sell future revenue unless you have to
Does Kevin think 3AU & Vodafone AU merger will go through regulation ?
Lastly before 3 ask for backing on UK customers " termination " fees, they ought to ask customers past & present would they back " UK call centres "
Its been a poor show for 6 years, unfortunately due to HWL we never see what 3UK deserve, administration.....& a proper company buying the assets and reversing the 3 trend of bad care & publicity with what is STILL a UNIQUE product/serviceSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Now that would really bring the internet and mobile together
"We'll never charge you for receiving a call on your mobile phone!"
it happened early in 2000's, dial up wap, GPRS then 3G, 3UK only changed the charging structure
"We'll never charge you for receiving a call on your mobile phone!" - tell that to the potential millions of customers 3LikeHome withdrawl has effected, all them customers who joined/upgraded before APRIL, perhaps you as a 3 employee would like to put your companies stance in writing on MSE surrounding cancellation surrounding 3LikeHome, that 3India are denying customers, that 3 are sending 2 completely different texts to ALL customers who predate April 2009 WHO can leave - but 3 are misleading, and those 3 India ADVISORS (?) who are lying & bullying the very customers who pay their salaries over the issue, no-one as customers asked 3 to remove 3LH or amend terms & conditions surrounding it
you can do so here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1684553
we @ MSE look forward to seeing you & your companies stance over there on the thread, nice to have you here 3employeeSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0
