It was just to let you know that these sausages are currently £2 in Tesco.

Oh sorry Just thought nice tasty sausuages 50p do somebody else a favour and tell them. its not compulsory to buy them wasnt really prepared to be taken to task for needing cheap, best wishes to all Mary

I agree Mary, thank you for the heads up on the bargain. If people don't want to buy them and stick with what they prefer then so be it. No need to berate people for making their money go further.

i saw a TV programme once in which Richard Hammond was shown how to make a cheap sauage...and what went in it! By the time all the bulkers/colours had been added it looked like any sausage - and the spices/herbs helped with the taste. Knowing what went in it however.....

I cook my sausages (and a lot of other things) on a 'fat trapper' from Lakeland.... when you see what comes out of things....

I watched 'Britains Really Disgusting Foods' and since then a cheap sausage has not touched my lips. The stuff they put into sausages is vile and gross - and I'll not even start on a lot of other stuff. Asda boss refused to eat his basics range too! Which tells you what!! I bulk buy huge quantities when good sausages with a very high meat content are on special offer. Otherwise we don't have them.

  • We buy Debbie & Andrews 97% pork sausages although we do 'cheat' somewhat - we get them from a manufacturer's/supermarket overstock shop and normally pay 59p without cardboard pacakging or 99p with all packaging.

These bangers look the business? Where is this Overstock shop?

It's in Tankersley, Barnsley, and is called Company Shop but is known locally as Marrans (after the bloke who founded it). Only problem being you have to be a member to shop there and they only allow certain professions in - NHS, food industry, BT, emergency services etc. It really makes you realise just how wasteful supermarkets are when you go there! Last week they were selling packs of Asda Organics pork sausages (approx 85% pork content) for 25p! Same sausages in Asda are £2.18!!

its funny u should say that because i feel the same. i always look at meat content and any less than 70% and it goes back, no matter how cheap. last week asda were doing beef sausages 81% meat for £1. they had gone up this week and i was gutted. oh well. please remember ppl that 58% meat means that there is 42% rubbish inside your sausage. they probably taste like mush - if you griolled em the fat would fill the grill pan.

Not 42% rubbish. 100% meat would just be minced pork or beef. You have to add other ingredients to it to make a sausage.

Sort of...but NOT 42%! The Debbie & Andrews sausages we eat contain 97% pork and they are most definitely a sausage (and a bloody lovely sausage at that).
