Morning all - I've been laughing at your shoes an handbags. I've probably got about 5 pair of shoes, but then I've also got trainers and lots of boots. I'm definitely more of a boots girl. My favourite ones are these (and I can't bear to part with my pair that are very siilar to these even though I've not worn them in almost 10 years, and probably couldn't walk in them now anyway!)

Oh, and I have 1 big handbag and a couple of those dinky ones in the evening that are full once you put your car keys in. Our changing bag is a rucksack one, so i can put one strap ocer each handle on the buggy. At the moment it doubles up as a changing bag, but I keep having to take my wallet/phone etc out when I leave it with my mum, or DH takes her into town, so I'm going to be able to use my big grown-up handbag again soon... I will need a new one by christmas I think. something else to put on my christmas list.

Oh - genious idea I had this year - I've got a list on the computer of things we all want. Whenever i think "oh, I could do with a...." or DH says he wants something in particular I jot it down. then when family ask what we want for birthdays and christmas I can actually tell them rather than going "ummmm, I dunno" and ending up with a film we're not interested in or some sweets no-one likes.

What I acutally came on here for was to do a victory dance  Izzy actually ate the amount of breakfast cerial recommended for a 7 month old this morning (normally she doesn't even manage the amount recommended for a 4 month old! ) and she had half a pot of fruit too. She ate loads yesterday too, so I think she's now realising that it's nicer when you have enough to eat. Daft baby ;)

She has also learnt how to do a fake cough. I don't think she is actually pretending to be ill, just making the noise because it is new and she likes it, but it's driving me up the wall! People keep thinking I'm a really mean mummy ignoring my coughing and spluttering child, but no, she is just a big faker :rotfl:

Oh, and is anyone elses baby obsessed with eating wipes? What with wipes, keys, plastic boxes and my feet I don't know why I bother buying her real toys ;)

Anyway, we're off swimming later, and then the other mummies and babies we are going with are all coming back here for lunch, so I'd better hoover, and move the powertools out of the room  (DH was meant to do it last night!) I don't mind them thinking I live in a bit of a mess, but I don't want to have to take anyone else's child to a&e today - that would be embarassing ;)

I need a rest from all this typing now, I have written a small novel, sorry!

Morning all.. I've only been up four hours and I'm shattered already! :(

How often should breast/EBM-fed babies have dirty nappies? Since we've come home, Rhys has had very few dirty nappies. I told the comms nurse yesterday but she didn't seem bothered. Still plenty of wet ones and he seems fine in himself, not grumpy

Really need to make progress with the bedrooms today.. will start after lunch, methinks! :)

Elle - Izzy used to normally have 1 dirty nappy a day before she weaned. All babies are different though, so I wouldn't worry too much, so long as he is happy and he does go sometimes. You might find if he isn't going every day that you will get leaks when he does go though - I've only just stopped taking 2 changes of clothes whenever we leave the house!

Some go every feed, others go once a day, but it is perfectly normal for babies to go up to 7 days (some even say 10!) without a dirty nappy.

Toby used to go little and often, but now goes once or twice a day. He does so much at once, that as soon as I hear it, I have to rush him off to the mat or else it goes everywhere!

    From KellyMom:
"Expect 3-4+ stools daily that are the size of a US quarter (2.5 cm) or larger. Some babies stool every time they nurse, or even more often--this is normal, too. The normal stool of a breastfed baby is yellow and loose (soft to runny) and may be seedy or curdy. After 4 - 6 weeks, some babies stool less frequently, with stools as infrequent as one every 7-10 days. As long as baby is gaining well, this is normal."

Thanks ladybird and feelie.. I was thinking Rhys is going to do more "normal" baby things now we're home.. the bottles, now the nappies  I'm still baffled by the bottles. Can't wait for the speech therapist to visit on Tuesday! :p

Okay, another silly newbie mum question... How do you know when to go up a size in nappies? Rhys has always been in Pampers Micro which say 2-5lb, but he's now 5lb 5oz and they still seem to fit fine. He's pretty long and thin so the tapes still meet in the middle. Just wondering if there's somewhere else I should be looking for them not fitting... :o The Newborn Size 1 still look huge next to him.

And no poop = no leaks... Fab! :D

I really should get up and do something but Rhys is using me as a mattress right now.

Haven't had the tv on at all since we got home - I have no idea what's going on in the world! Anything important?
