That would be great thanks

I'm not too bothered if it doesn't look "perfect" I'd just like to be able to close it, so it goes to sleep and doesn't waste the whole battery. Plus I can think of more important things to spend £200 on right now, but on the other hand I feel pained my laptop is suffering lol, really couldn't go back to using an ACER (what OH suggested I bought instead of getting this fixed....)0 -

I was distraught when I bent mine. Fixed it up (doesn't look too bad, considering)..............
I think this is the guide I used. Didn't do all of it though as I just needed to get the frame and casing off the display.

(I did buy a new MBP when they came out in October (for other reasons), but I've kept the old one too. OH is using it to develop iphone apps

So I don't need to disconnect all the doohickeys then? Because I'm thinking  if I have to do that.
So basically, take all the screws out, take off the frame, unscrew some more screws and I should get the display off?
I should probably buy one of those little screwdrivers first, because I was having a rummage last night at the screw where the LCD bends, but it's at such a hard angle all I did was scratch the aluminium

I remember taking the battery out, and disconnecting a couple of things, but i didn't detach everything. You should be able to tell what you need to do once it's open IYSWIM.
You'll definitely need a small philips screwdriver, and a small allan/hex key too.
Good luck!:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:A

I would be gutted. Especially if I'd have to fix it myself. I cant believe a fall from a table could do that to the famed aluminium case, I hope she didn't knock it off by the power cable. Definitely put my faith back in plastic laptops.
Whilst doing the repair the best thing you can do is take your time and breath, itll calm you down. Either that or take out apple care leave it a month then claim... opps did I say that out load... sorry. House insurance???0 -

I thanked you for this bit, before I read your suggestion to the OP that they commit fraud.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:A

The laptop was open at the time it fell, I think the most damage is that bent bit of LCD screen, so If I can bang it back into shape it should close, or at least not split apart like it's currently doing.
Apple care is quite expensive no? House Insurance - I'm covered for contents and accidental damage, I just have to pay an excess of £200 and they'll fix it.....would much rather go down this route than the applecare, plus I'm sure they'd know something was up if I claimed a month later. Big coincedence0 -

I typed it and before I knew what had happened it was posted, honest. The house insurance bit aint fraud.
Remember, this is an open forum! Anyone can post so always exercise caution when acting on info
Anyway, its you to the OP on whether they want to risk breaking further if they're not confident, or pay the excess.0 -

Btw - I have loads of allan keys but I've no idea what a hex key is....also I do have a teeny tiny torx like thing that fits the screws but I can't seem to angle it to get into the ones on the display - Oh wait, it would fit once the main part over the keys was off - Durr.0
