  • Good morning all.

The weather here is drizzly rain. No wait, the sun is now out. It seems to be changing that quickly here lately. The front garden is beginning to look like a jungle and needs mowing badly!

I'm still working on cleaning up and decorating the other flats in the building. I'm hoping to finish painting by Sunday and then the carpet guys can come in and do their thing. The electrician is coming tomorrow to straighten out a few minor things. I'm starting to feel like an onsite project manager with all the tradesmen coming and going etc. :rotfl: However it is good that our landlord wants his properties done well and well maintained.

I will not be doing too much today as it's DH's day off. Just running out and getting a few bits and bobs I need to finish the work in the flats. I have no idea what tea will be yet, however it will be something with smoked salmon trimmings. I'll take a browse thru some of the recipes here later.

Off now for a quick tidy of the flat, strip the bed and a few lil things.

Hugs to all who want/need one.

    Peyton xxx

    Morning All,
my cold hopefully seems to be getting a bit better just lots of gunk bunging my head up.I am going to go and steam my head shortly to clear it all.Today being Ascension day two of my DGS have a half day so I am picking them up from school and taking them into Chatham. They want one of those 'soft' foam footballs and I'm hoping that the poundshop may have some then I'll take them to lunch as a treat as they have been very good and have been working hard at their summer tests at school. The younger of the two Henry, is 8 on the 3rd June so I am hoping that I may get some idea of what he would like for his birthday. No food shopping to get this week at all as I got it all yesterday and now my freezer is full to bursting so I am not going to buy anything else now until after our August holiday as there is more than enough in there for me.Only Milk ,bread, and fresh veggies for a couple of months.
8 weeks till DD and I go to Amsterdam to see her idols U2,she is getting so excited .She has seen them several times before but only in this country. We saw Robbie William in Amsterdam a few years ago, so we will be staying at the same hotel which is nice and we love strolling around the city as it's so pretty. This trip is an early 40th birthday present for her, as she works so hard and is very good to me bless her
Right well I'm off to stick my head in the steamer Have a good day everyone the sun is shining and its looking quite nice
    Cheers JackieO xx

No it won't ;) I make fruit bread and just add solid butter. The kneading action of the BM completely incorporates it into the bread (even in the cooler months :p ) I put it on the timer overnight, too.

Oooh thank you so much for that. Am going to try it with my next loaf

    :hello:Good morning!

Nice day here today. Have washing to go on the line in a minute, when Dh has brought down some hangers for the t-shirts!

I was on my way to bed last night at 12.15 a.m. and suddenly noticed that the wall tiles beside the toilet looked dreadful :o so i thought "Seize the day" (or night, in this case) and cleaned them then and there - knew i wouldn't get around to it if I told myself i'd do them today. I never thought i'd find myself cleaning at that time of night :p but it meant I felt really pleased when I looked at them this morning!

We were in M & S the other day as I wanted to get something nice for tea, not feeling up to cooking completely from scratch. They had Jersey Royals @ £1.99 for 1.5kg so we got some and they're lovely, much nicer than ones i've bought from supermarkets before - I think they are often sold in supermarkets after they are past their best. The last 2 years I've bought some at our greengrocer/butcher's, just one meal's worth for a treat, and theirs are excellent but sooooo expensive - I think they are charging £6.99 per kg this year! So I suppose buying them in M&S was at least MS, though of course buying them at the local shop would have been more OS

Beth - did you find the missing rubber glove in the end? :D Best wishes to your DBro's.

halight - So nice to see you back! Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs halight!

Squiggly, purpleclutterbuck, bargainbird and I'm sure there was someone else who popped back :hello:

wmf - Glad you are feeling better today :)

Penelope Penguin - I subscribe to Good Housekeeping - my little treat! Recent copies have had moneysaving tips, recipes and articles in them - nothing we don't already know from here though ;) I like it because the models on the fashion pages don't look about twelve, and I can actually imagine myself wearing some of the clothes even if I can't afford them :D

Going to Bluewater presently, to see if I can find a jersey nightdress that isn't made uncomfortable by cheap, scratchy lace, isn't too short, and hasn't got a teddy bear on the front  Had no luck in M & S or BHS! I'd really like to make one, but not up to sewing atm unfortunately - i might be able to make it very gradually but it would take me about 6 months:p

Good luck to the young people taking exams atm. I think our DGS (in Yr 10) is meant to be taking a few of his this year to get them out of the way, so he can concentrate on his weaker subjects next year, but keep forgetting to ask DD (she and DSIL are busy with their own Uni exams as well:eek:)

Hope everyone has a good day

    Good morning!

Happy anniversary Halight and Mrs H! Hope you have a lovely meal tomorrow! xx

Have sorted washing, where on earth does it all come from, washed up, swished the kitchen, cleaned the hob - someone spilt hot choc all over it last night whilst I was at work! Need to change beds, will get bedding out on line whilst it is so sunny.

Lunch will be a sarnie for me, kids had cheese and salad sarnies (dd3 will be overjoyed to find it's granary bread - NOT!), raisins, cheese, hobnobs.

Dinner will be a surprise to use up some stuff from the freezer, ignoring the meal plan today, need to get through some of this food!

I'm off out to see a friend later, so looking forward to a gossip and a glass of vino tonight.

Hope everyone has a good day xx

Happy Anniversary to Mr & Mrs Halight.Have a lovely night out tomorrow.
Just a quickie from me- I have to go and take my neighbours dog out shortly. At least its stopped raining but the field will be sodden,I'll have to dig my boots out.

I've done some more chucking out of underwear(keeping what I can for dusters of course) so feel like our wardrobes are fairly organised now-I was sick of not being able to find what I wanted.

I feel a bit tired today-the dog wanted to go out at 4am.Think the milkman must have woken him,I just saw the milk float disappearing-hope he didnt see me in my nightie and big cardy I shoved on quick :D

I'm off to the hairdressers first thing tomorrow, and I cant decide whether to have a change or 'just a trim please'.I'd like it to look a bit smarter as we've got a wedding next week, and our trip to France in just over a couple of weeks.French ladies are so smart.
Have a good day everyone. x

    Afternoon all,

Happy anniversary to the Halights....four years....you wont feel the next forty

Warm and sunny here one minute and pelting rain the next, so no gardening will be done, OH was to see consultant in hospital this am and she is satisfied with him but has warned him that he will have to limit alcohol to 2 glasses wine maximum per day or she will have to consider taking him off Warfarin when he visits again in 3 months, which would leave him very likely to have another stroke...we'll see what he does, not my decision.

DD2 and DGSs 1 & 3 have just gone to a local amusement park for small children, the cousins are at school and its lashing rain so she feels they need to get out of the house and this is the only option....she doesn't realise I think, that I am always terrified when she goes off driving my car...but she is careful, just doesn't drive from one visit to the next as they live in North London where having a car would be more of a burden than an advantage.

Dinner to-night will be butternut squash risotto and chicken breast, with salad, not sure what for pudding, maybe just icecream.

Got no knitting done yesterday so going to get to it now while I watch some tennis, have turned on heat for a while as OH is frozen....not very warm myself.

Hugs to all in need or want, still waiting for the MIA people to come back...please.

    Afternoon all.

Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Halight.

Ivyleaf, Mr LW and I often do little tasks as and when we notice they want doing - I've even known Mr LW to scrub the loo at silly o'clock in the morning, stark naked, when he's actually supposed to be shaving!:rotfl:

I'm having a quiet day today, as I did rather too much yesterday and exhausted myself (I always seem to do this when Mr LW is w*rking from home). So not a lot of OS today, although I may get on with a bit of cross stitch later.

The coconut and cherry buns I made yesterday were a success. Mr LW took some in his lunchbox today, and texted me to say "yum yum".:p He's got to do some system maintenance this evening, after 17:30, so he'll likely be working til daft o'clock. Luckily we have the 2nd half of yesterday's Shepherd Spy for dins, so it's just a question of shove it on plates and nuke it.:o I hate it when he has to w*rk late, but they all have to take a turn, so it's only fair. And they're good about letting him know in advance so that we can plan round it. I just get a mite fed up and lonely, is all.

Have a good rest-of-the-day, all. ((((HUGS)))) to those who want/need one today.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

It does have timer function. BUT I use melted butter in my bread receipe (instead of olive oil) and if I were to set it up night before butter would solidify :rotfl:
Good suggestion though, just prefer the bread made with butter to oil. A cross I shall have to bear :rotfl:

Would it though? I only ask because mine has a clever way of keeping the lukewarm water warm so the yeast will work.....I presume it puts a small amount of heat through to keep that temperature until the timer kicks in.

Oh well, was just an idea!

Now I've read all the thread, I see that you've been sorted out!
