OS Daily Thread Thursday 21st May

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 20th May. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Good morning everyone.
Cloudy and a bit grey here. I need some sunshine!!!
Not much to report here. Normally I have loads of waffle to bore you with but this morning. Nope, nothing.
Got to put BM on in a minute (I love it but taking 3 hours is a bit of a pain in the rear sometimes as my bread doesn't do so well if it gets left in the hot machine for too long so I have to schedule baking it so I am around to take it out. Should be done by 9.30 at this rate so just in time for me to get back from pre school run!).
Jobs for this morning:
change towels in bathroom
clean bathroom
sweep downstairs (I love laminate but jeez i get sick of the "bits"!!!)
My veggies are looking a bit yellow and sickly. I can't believe they've gone from healthy plants to me putting them in the patch and them dying off. Have given them a feed last night, removed the poly tunnels. Will have to cross fingers that they pick up.
Not doing any real baking at the moment. Am following Paul McKenna's weightloss programme and I really don't get to have the snacks like I used to (because I am not hungry for them) so doesn't seem worth it. Shame really as baking is my therapy. I love it and more to the point I love eating it!!!!
Oh look at that I managed to come up with some waffle after all!
Have a good day, OS or not.

Morning bitsy and all to follow,
Nice day here again today, shame I am off to work , would love another day in the garden.
Dinner tonight is fish fingers chips and beans, nice and easy, I also have a sainsbugs delivery coming tonight.
Need to put a wash on at some point, and will have a quick tidy through this morning.
DD came home from school yesterday saying that there is a school trip to Paris next year which costs £200, so I will have to start a savings pot for that, she has done so well in french lessons, I had her in lessons from when she was 4, and it has really helped her, so well worth it.
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning Bitsy, Redruby and all to follow.
Sorry Bitsy but its bright sunshine here
Am giving myself the morning off and heading into town, need some bits from Superdrug, will have a look around the charity shops too and Iceland.
This afternoon I may well get on with some housework or I might give myself the afternoon off as well. Feeling like the batteries need recharging today
Will do some washing though and get out on the line. No ironing here at the moment :j
Chicken didnt defrost in time yesterday so we are having that tonight, had chilli last night instead - in the old days would have had a takeaway.
Have a great day.

Good morning everyone  DD has no exams today, so we're going shopping (I need a new phone - mine's 7 years old, the numbers have rubbed off, and it keeps switching itself off  ).
I got my sausage casings in the post yesterday, and was all ready to start, but found the butchers closed with no warning  The lady from the neighbouring shop told me they'd gone on holiday. It's not like them to just disappear with no warning (and no poster in the window) so hope all is well with them
I'll be able to buy meat in town, but may not be able to make the sausages until Saturday
I baked yesterday afternoon (it was too wet to get much gardening done). I made a brown loaf, white loaf, 16 bread rolls, lemon drizzle cake, 12 mushroom buns, 12 HG HM damson jam tarts, broccolis and Stilton quiche, choc nut cookies. That should keep us going for a while :T
I picked up some copies of Good Housekeeping (we were having a clearout of the waiting room at work). Not much Old Style in there any more  I'm glad I didn't pay £3.20 each
Old Style jobs for today:- mow the lawn (unless it's too wet
) - quesadillas for supper
- ice buns
- Flylady list
- ironing
:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 - mow the lawn (unless it's too wet

Does your BM have a timer on? We put ours on overnight & set it so it's finished & ready to take out at getting-up time.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all,
still been a bit MIA recently due to life! However, Uni work placement is now finished (woo-hoo!!!) and I am just spending the next couple of weeks working on my dissertation..... (it's getting there). Today I am going into Uni to hand in my portfolio from my placement - by the 5th June it will all be over
Then hopefully the best part of 3 months before I start my new 'qualified' job..though still typing at home in the meantime soI can live!
Not really been able to keep up with much of what's going on, however:
Redruby - wow your garden is brilliant & I feel all inspired. I have been starting to get out in mine (got a great little £28 flymo) and am excited about finally having time to make it nice & enjoy it (even though at 100ft it is a bit of a challenge for me..). I am going to grow some veg (though I may be a bit late to start from seed, so might cheat slightly by buying little starter plants), and get my builder to do a pergola for me as well. I have been really enjoying the chance to get outside for a couple of hours in this beautiful weather & just 'switch off' a bit.
MSD - cheers for the sandwich spread ideas, I shall show my DD's. Hope you hear from Tristan soon.
Halight - great to have you back!
Sunnygirl, glad to hear your dad is doing so well now
Mioliere, you must be very pleased to finally have internet & sounds like you are settling very well in France.
Betheebee - are you still busy as ever?! How are your DB's doing?
I'm sure there's plenty more - but for now (((((hugs))))) for those who need them & belated birthday wishes to anybody I've missed. Better get up & moving!!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

It does have timer function. BUT I use melted butter in my bread receipe (instead of olive oil) and if I were to set it up night before butter would solidify :rotfl:
Good suggestion though, just prefer the bread made with butter to oil. A cross I shall have to bear :rotfl:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Morning everyone - hope you're all well today?
It's dry here for just now and the forecast is for showers, so don't think I'll be hanging up the washing that was done overnight.
DH has gone off with my car and I've got to get his one to the garage to get the front exhaust welded as it's blowing good style.
Bins are out for collection, so I did my rubbish sort out for the organics, the residual and the recycling last night - we're putting less and less into the residual bin these days and the organic one gets at least a couple of grass clippings in it. We're on fortnightly collections and seem to manage fine with that.
Busy day ahead at work and we're going to tackle the housework tonight as DH is off out for the rugby club dinner on Saturday - methinks that Sunday will be a non-event of a day for him
Have a good day everyone. I'm off to take the dog for her walk!0 -

No it won't
I make fruit bread and just add solid butter. The kneading action of the BM completely incorporates it into the bread (even in the cooler months
) I put it on the timer overnight, too.
