wrong reg on parking ticket pay or NOT pay?

If you do pay it (as you would like to do) What is to stop them from coming back in a few days with the correct number and another ticket?I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

where it was parking i don't think it could have had a photo taken, from what you say don't pay it.
I put in the reg that was on the ticket on the DVLA website and it comes up with a blue Audi, does that mean if i don't pay it they well contact the owner of the blue Audi?0 -
I have a question.
Did you actually commit the misdemeanor for which the ticket was issued?
If the answer is yes, then shouldn't you pay the ticket anyway? regardless of whether any details are incorrect.
If you don't pay, simply because this ticket can't be enforced, then you are on the same moral ground as the MPs who claimed expenses in accordance with the letter, but not the spirit, of the regulations.
It's your conscience .....I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

so you don't think councils should be required to issue legally compliant PCNs? anything will do or do you just draw the line somewhere different to the line drawn by the law? if so, what gives you that right?
Any stand against incompetence is worthwhile. Maybe they'll eventually learn to get it right.
Maybe he should photocopy some ten pound notes and pay with those then?0 -

It is not nearly as simple as that TBH. There are a whole load of things that need to be right for a ticket to be valid in the first place and many local authorities often get one or more of them wrong but still try to enforce payment despite this.
The OP has listed one absolutely fatal error here, there could well be more.0 -

They might well - There are a few threads here from folk who have got NTOs out of the blue and are adamant they never parked in those places to begin with.0 -
look at it from another perspective. anumber of Councils still can't get the simple wording right on their documentation. Some have since changed. The experience in between was that of frequent vehement denials and insistence that they were correct.
where that happens and documentation has been correctly amended, what do you think of the interim denials, misinformation, misdirection and demands for money? a little bit of 'payback' never hurts!0 -

Of course I think councils should be required to issue legally compliant PCNs, just as all individuals and organisations should be minded to comply with our laws AND a basic moral code, in order to keep society running with some general air of civilisation.
I just find the immediate air of "you can weasel out of paying this fine, because the poor sod with aching feet who has to be a parking warden to make money to feed his kids, made a mistake when he entered your details into his machine" a bit disquieting.
Sorry if you find that so unpalatable.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.
