wrong reg on parking ticket pay or NOT pay?

I have been issued with a PCN from the county council for parking in permit parking.
When I got home I looked at the ticket and the reg is incorrect, it has an O (letter) in place of a 0 (number) and also has a letter missing at the end, make and model are correct.
When I go to the website to pay and put in the PCN it comes up with the incorrect reg number.
Do I pay or not will they be able to trace it?

Dont quote me, as I may be wrong. I think that you dont have to pay, if the information on the ticket is wrong. I think it has to be correct details or you can appeal and probably win it.
As I say, I may be wrong, but sure I heard it from a traffic warden a few years ago!I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -
I wasn't going to appeal I just was going to pay it, as they can't trace me..... correct me if I'm wrong.0

Don't pay it.
Samething happened to me, didn't hear from them.I hate migraines.0 -
IANAL, but my take on things would be:
(a) They have not issued a ticket against your car.
(b) You can't pay it because the system won't let you.0 -
Remember that they can and do utilise photgraphic evidence in administering tickets in some areas - this would mean your vehicle is traceable.
However it is the responsibilty of the issuing officer to ensure accuracy when issuing tickets and in this case their actions to pursue would be flawed on technicallity.
Just write in and appeal stating that the ticket has not been completed in accordance with the issuing laws - you should win the appeal as it would not stand up in court anyway.
Dont just ignore it.0 -
The PCN is fatally flawed. You were never the owner of the vehicle identified on the PCN. They cannot re-issue.0

PCN seems to be a general term used for numerous types of ticket that then sometimes turn out to be something else.
I think it most likely IS a PCN issued under TMA 2004 but best to be sure.
If it is an FPN or ECN isued under criminal legislation then the advice is different.
If PCN you CAN ignore and certainly do not invite a problem by submitting an appeal.

Nope, "photgraphic evidence" is the bottom of the evidential food chain in parking. If the is anything wrong with the ticket and/or the patrollers notes, there is no way a photo will be admitted on its own. At very best, it would be used to clarify any minor issues between the ticket and the notes.
So little more than another scare tactic really.0 -
dont pay it, they need to get the registration and make model and colour correct else it is invalid. even the slightest incorrect detail voids the ticket!0
-
Colour is not a statutory requirement neither is the make.0
