I have applied for many jobs including care homes, toilet cleaning etc already as has my OH. To say there are jobs if you are desperate is beyond delusional.Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.

My partner has paid tax and national insurance on his wages at a substantial rate for many, many years, and will start paying again as soon as he finds another job, so if you look at it that way, essentially it is self-supporting. Surely he too should be entitled to help in his hour of need?
If he has earned loads of money as you say because he has paid so much in tax. Where is it all?
Should you as a couple not be living off those savings now.

You also have posted regarding choosing to take a minimum wage job with part time hours.
You don't need to be psychic to plan for the future; many people on a decent income take out insurance to protect themselves if they can afford it.0 -

As I've mentioned before, we pay, or have paid, National Insurance and tax too- more in the past than we'll take in benefits and shall continue to pay this in the future with interest, so as far as I'm concerned, the way I look at it we're not scrounging off anybody but effectively using our own insurance contributions in our (hopefully brief) time of need.Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.
