its not the kids fault its the parents, we recently went to the Beamish Museum where there were loads of kids

I was amazed at how the kids climbed on stuff, took the marquie staves out of the ground and generally were a nuisance and the parents smiled benignly on at them, there are old open top trams and one kid stood at the front up stairs on the bench the rail came shin length on him

the tram took off with a lurch and if it hadnt been for my husband making a mad leap at him and grabbing him by the back of his pants hed have gone over the top and under the tram,

what did his dad say ?? "come on scott, never mind" and glared at us!!!

scott and his peers dont stand a chance they arnt taught how to behave, and they spoiled the day out for most of us, with their screaming and shouting and climbing on stuff and generally being a nuisance. at one point a member of staff came out into the street and told a kid to get down off the window ledge of a house, where he was precariously balanced, lookiing on were about 5 women and lots and lots of kids

the man shouted OY the kid stood there looking at him

    the women giggled

the man said " oy get down of there or youll hurt yourself" no response
    women now in fits

he gave up and went inside and the silly moos said

"ooooh wasnt that realistic, thats what it must have been like in the old days"

    *sigh

The sad thing is Cathy that whilst you and Scott would make great parents (because you would obviously take your responsibilities seriously) you are also the kind of couple who might decide not to have kids (because you would give it some thought before doing so).

It is the less intelligent and less responsible in society who are less likely to think through their family planning strategy.

Ivan - You are very brave going out in that state.
I think if I had anything heavy to laod up and was in your state then I would stay in bed and get one of my family of friends to get it for me.
You are braver than I am.

By the way - would you really be in a state to make an emergency stop in your condition - or was someone else driving.

Not brave, looking back on it I would use the word 'stupid' for going out in the state I was in.  My wife does not drive so I was the one driving ... could I have done an emergency stop ? ... fortunately I did not have to find out.  The pain-killers (Tramadol I think) totally masked everything ... until I tried to get out of bed the next morning.

I dont think I am alone in saying that I would gladly swap my blue badge and parking 'rights' for 100% health again. [never needed a car before]

People who use these spaces should be ashamed of themselves and have points added as with other offences.

I think we should treat them as we would treat yellow lines, just dont go there, simple as that. One day it could be us or our parents or kids who need that space.

there is no guarantee that we will all stay in the best of health and never need a bit of a hand.

Our B&Q acutally use one of the disabled bays to park trolleys in !!

Ive got to say tho the attitude of some disabled people is lousy, recently I jumped up and opened a door for a lady in an electric wheelchair trying to get into the shoe shop door, I hobbled over with one shoe off and the other on, held the door open and she just sailed through, didnt even look at me!!

a thanks would have been nice.

there are a lot of people in the world who are ignorant

    this takes the biscuit:

    sunny day, sainsburys car park
a woman in her convertible BMW (top down) parks along the side of a disabled spot (not an actual space)
with her 2 kids in the back, they both must hav been at least 10 years
her hubby/partner/friend jumps out and goes to do some shopping...

a disabled lady in wheelchair comes along and struggles to get her shopping and chair into the car parked in the spot next to the BMW woman
the BMW woman doesnt bad an eyelid

a lady that was with the disabled lady says to the BMW woman "of course that isnt really a parking space u know"

BMW woman shakes her hair and says "oh i know, but there werent any parent and child spaces left - and all of the people parked in them probably dont even have kids"

    shame on you BMW woman

The DEPARTMENT FOR TRANSPORT 'Measures to tackle misuse of off-street disabled parking spaces (which include supermarkets)' says:
'Part 3 of The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 requires service providers to take reasonable steps to ensure that disabled people do not find it impossible, or unreasonably difficult, to enjoy the service on the same basis as non-disabled people. This will have implications for car park operators, who may have to demonstrate that as well as marking out disabled persons' parking spaces, they have taken reasonable steps to ensure that they are available to disabled people.'

There is a scheme called 'BAYWATCH' to tackle abusers of disabled bays in supermarkets

I have seen both sides of this. Before I became disabled (I have MS) I used to moan at the fact there were not enough parent and child places etc, but now I get so angry at people who park in disabled bays just to nip into get a pint of milk etc. I never want to get in a confrontation with these people - life is too short for that, but I wish people would realise that these spaces are meant for the less able and infirm in society - we never asked to be disabled and we do like to go out from time to time!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sorry Mr.Pakman, sir. :)

You can spend your time alone re digesting past regrets,

Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.
