Damp, mice, thatch ... no thanks.

rofl, one man's poison and all. One of the reasons we want to build is purely because we doubt we could afford to buy something we'd love as much ''old''.

ONLY 2 en-suite? I've never understood why people are so fixated by en-suite bathrooms. To me, it's a bit like being in an hotel. To my mind, I don't understand why you'd want to sacrifice valuable floor-space to a room I'd probably spend no more than 15 minutes in a day.

I couldn't live with our ensuite. Can have a humungous dump and read the newspaper without disturbing anyone but the OH.;)

Do you think that wine rack would also take cans of Stella? How posh I'd be, with my lager all laid out on it's side.

    But they would be warm?

Maybe you could turn the whole kitchen into a giant refrigerator to keep them cold;)

They'll take an offer. Personally, I cannot think that anyone sighted would buy that one in Chertsey. Was it really designed to look like that?

I can't see any use for it outside being a very high class bordello.

But !!!!!! is the point of a heated marble driveway?

Do people with £70 million houses actually walk? I thought they were carried round on litters being fed grapes by naked Swedish contortionist triplets.

They walk sometimes. They often walk (male) with lifts in their shoes or (women?) in high heels. On ice its precarious. I've also had the dubious honour of taking horses over marble: its bad enough leading them thus, riding: I have no wish to have a horse fall on me.

For 'Japanese,' read 'poky.' It's also on chalk, so I wouldn't want it, even with an acre.

With the dual staircases and lots of little rooms, kids would like it for hide & seek though!

re the top one wikipedia adds

At some point it was acquired by Craig Johnson, who undertook a number of developments. In April 2008 Johnson was one of 21 people to be jailed in connection with a £138m VAT carousel fraud, with the defendants sentenced to a total of 133 years - one of the largest thefts from public funds that has been brought to court after a Customs investigation. In November 2008, Johnson was ordered to repay HMRC £26m to the government, with £8m due within 12 months - including funds from the sale of Meaford Hall, estimated by HMRC at £3million.

Luckily, we're not all the same

Quite an intense 15 minutes at times though... _pale_
