Just checked my payslip for the end of year and it says, 'taxable pay to date' and gives the same figure as the 'pay earned' on my p60.
So this is the figure I need then?
Yup that's the figure you needSealed Pot Challenge #239

My daughter started university last year, but when she applied for student finance she did it on a non income assessed. We thought she would be better off, but it turns out she would have got more if she had applied for finance based on household income.
I have 2 questions though, related to assessment for different periods.
1. Can she have it reassesed now for 2013/14? Based on 2012/13 financial year?
2. She is about to reapply for 2014/15 year but our combined salary will drop this coming tax year by a considerable amount, I think we will have to provide 2013/14 salaries though, do they take into consideration the year coming or will they only consider it based on the tax year to date?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
My question is similar to the above. Hubby now working for himself and household income has dropped by over 25% in 2013/14 from 2012/13 which is when they ask for figures for. Have completed details online for both our incomes but dont see how or where to input any revised 2013/14 figures to hubby's application. Anyone know please? Thanks.0 -
Hi!
I've applied to do a PGCE and so am about to apply for student finance. However! I'm going to run into a ton of hurdles...
For my undergrad, I got my loan through SAAS as I grew up in Scotland (but I studied in England). Now I'm living in England, and (hopefully) going to university in England, so I was told to apply for finance through SFE. That's not a problem. SAAS should be transferring my details to SFE.
But, I moved to China in 2007, and lived there for 5 years. Then I lived in Spain (Oct 2012 to July 2013), then Australia (Aug 2013 to May 2014). I'm now back in the UK with my parents but I'm pretty sure I won't get finance because I've been out of the UK for so long... Am I right?
I know that you're allowed to leave the UK temporarily... I was in Australia on a working holiday visa, and was only there for 8 months. My home has always been wherever my parents have lived. And as I was living in an EU country for 10 months prior to going to Australia, does that help?
I'm not sure I'm explaining this clearly. Basically, how likely is it that I'll get a loan? And if, as I'm pretty sure is the case, I don't get one, how long would I have to live in the UK to qualify for one, given that I was in an EU country and then temporarily in Australia from Oct 2012 to May 2014?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

It's more the China part I'm concerned about. What were your reasons for moving there?0

Hi! Thanks for getting back to me.
I moved there with my then boyfriend as he got a job there. I did a TEFL course and started teaching. We broke up 3 years later and I stayed for a further 2. I can't imagine there's any way I could argue that I was only there temporarily... I had residence visas and work contracts and the like. Also, since 2009, I've been repaying my undergrad loan from overseas, so they know I've been abroad...It's more the China part I'm concerned about. What were your reasons for moving there?0 -

I would say, on this basis, you're ineligible on residency grounds, as you expected. You'd have to self fund it if you started this September.0 -
Ya, unfortunately that doesn't come as a surprise...
I guess I should call them to find out exactly how long I'll need to be here before I'll get funding, as I have approximately no money to pay my own way.

I am separated from my husband. My daughter lives with me and I earn under £25,000
My question is when applying for the student grant do I have to declare the money my husband pays me as part of the household income?0 -
Can anyone help - my husband wants to go to uni to get a teaching degree but he doesn't have any A-Levels or equivalent so I understand he is going to have to go to Open University first to get a High Education Certificate.
Now, can he get tuition loans for both the Open University course which starts this October and then will he also be able to get another tuition loan (or extend the original one) for the teaching degree which is 2 years long starting September 2015?0
