    Hi,
I have applied for student finance and i am eligible for the full grant and the full loans too. I sent off my mam's financial details off but then recieved a letter saying they needed her divorce papers etc. She sent these off and they then sent a declaration form out which i have signed and returned as they said that would guarantee i have some finance available in september. On the website it says i am only entitled to get the loans and not the grant as my mother has not sent her financial details which she has done. Do i get her to send them again? Do i need to request they send another form for her to fill in or just send them the p60 again?
Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

They should be in the system, and I would allow several weeks for processing.
  • I have a question to ask about long course loans.

I read in a book by the Daily Telegraph about student finance that if you were doing a course at university longer than 30 weeks, you could get extra money for each week that you were doing the course.

My course is a Foundation Certificate course that's a year long and leads on to a degree course proper and I've already found out online on the SLC site when I'll be getting my funding (I applied for Tuition Fee Loan, Supplementary Grant and Maintenance Loan and am getting the full amount for each type of funding).

I currently live on my own in a flat rented from my local housing association and I want to know what's the current rate per week if I'm living in my own home as I can't find the info on the SLC site.

Is the foundation year integrated, or standalone? If you were able to tell me the exact course and university/college, I'd be able to give you a better idea.
  • Taiko, the foundation year is at John Moores University in Liverpool, the UCAS code is G400 FY/Comp and according to the official prospectus for 2011 and is designed for progression onto a degree course. I think it's a standalone year which if you pass allows you to go onto a related degree course of your choice, but I'm not too sure, TBH.

That is what it's for but I can't see where it says it's longer than 30 weeks.
  • My fault. I should have linked to the Academic Calendar at JMU for 2010/11 which is here and shows that the Academic Year is 35 weeks long.

But you're not required to attend for 35 weeks - weeks 15,16 and 17 are Christmas Break and weeks 31 and 32 are Spring Break so I don't think your course would class as 35 weeks long on the basis of this timetable. Does your own course require you to attend these weeks?

Taiko will be able to confirm either way but if I took into consideration Christmas/Easter breaks my course would be 38 weeks long and we definitely don't get extra funding.

    Spring
