Mobiles.co.uk, Redemption plan - too good to be true?
Options
I am looking at the following deal on mobiles.co.uk
http://!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/orange-lg-cookie-kp500-clearance.html
Looking at the Racoon 30 deal with 9 months free rental via redemption.
I am also looking at doing this via QuidCo who are offering £40 cash back:
http://www.quidco.com/mobiles-co-uk/
I can also sell my old Nokia 8800 for £45 via Mobile Phone Buyer:
http://www.mobilephonebuyer.net/add_mobile.php?mobile_id=280
Now by my calculations this phone will only cost be £5 for the year!
12 Months Rental £360
9 Months redemption -£270
QuidCo Cashback -£40
Sale of old 8800 -£45
Total £5
I have never used QuicCo before - is there anything I need to be aware of when placing my order?
I have never used a redemption contract before - I have read the blurb and it seems very straightforward so long as I send my bills in on 6, 8, 10 & 12 months.
Now this all sounds far too good to be true?
Am I missing a trick?
Any advice would be most welcome

Do your research and know what you're getting into. There is a thread on this dealer and (at least) hundreds of pages/threads on cashback deals:-
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=558661
As part of cpw anyone dealing with this company needs to take care. I have found they are extremely tardy on payments (and initially didn't pay the full amount) and (recently) have offered a deal they failed to honour (instead attempting to encourage the customer to buy something less attractive).
On the plus side they should survive and therefore (provided you know exactly what you're doing and do it well) it is easy to sue them should they fail to cough up. Their cashback t&c are also rather clearer and less ambiguous than their cpw counterparts. That said, cashback deals are NOT for the faint-hearted or "fools rush in" brigade - the thousands of "fools" who have lost thousands of pounds (each) on such deals along with the (at least) hundreds of people who have been forced to sue to recover their money should be evidence of that.0 -
I have only just got around to reviewing this again and after reading your cashback deal thread I am thinking of using Mobiles2yourdoor.
I like the look of this deal: L&G Cookie
Buying this through TopCashBack I can get £30 cashback.
Does this sound like a good deal?
Is the L&G Cookie a good phone?
Any advice would be very welcome.0 -
I find quidco far more relaibel and safer. I have used both cashback sites extensively and lost a ton of money from TopCashback because things either fail to track, track at "£0" or track correctly and then go to £0 - all for absolutely no good reason. Topcashback and simply useless and inefficient whilsy Quidco actually does (eventually) try very hard to sort things out - and usually tracks much better as well. The so-called "top-ups" on Topcashback vanish if an earlier transaction goes to "£0" but NEVER go back up again whent (on those rare occasions) when an enquiry is actually dealt with properly. I have found one advantage from using TopCashback but in general they have cost me a lot more than I have gained.
Mobiles2YourDoor has consistently been excellent for a long time - but current deals aren't that great. Can't speak for the phone though; no doubt others will have knowledge of that and (possibly) alternate deals.0 -
Cheers MobileJunkie - I also have a QuidCo account so I am happy to use that rather than TopCashBack.
The main reason for selling my old Nokia 8800 is the appalling battery life- it can be fully charged one minute and completely discharged the next
Is the L&G Cookie any better?
Is it easy to use?
I have only read reviews on mobile phone sites and surprise surprise these are all very positive.
Would love to hear from others of any better deals0
